When teaching, I focus on three key things in every lesson: establishing a growth mindset, effectively differentiating for each student, and ensuring my students feel valued.
A growth mindset is when a student moves from saying "I can't" to saying "I can't yet". I work with every student to ensure they feel capable of improving, even if it's their least favourite subject. Professor Carol Dweck gives an excellent Ted Talk on the topic which is well worth a watch (The power of believing that you can improve - Carol Dweck).
Effective differentiation is essential for any teacher to effectively engage a student. By providing multiple and varied means of engagement, representation, and expression, I adjust the learning environment to suit the student, rather than expecting the student to learn in a way which doesn't make sense to them.
Finally, my students feel valued. I care about the learning and wellbeing of each of my students and continuously build positive relationships with them.
My name's Aidan Beiboer, I'm a qualified high school teacher with 18 months teaching experience. I've recently finished working at a school in Northern Tasmania, and have moved to the ACT to pursue my passion for environmental education. I've previously taught English, History, Geography, and Digital Technologies to students in Years 7-9.
Prior to completing my Master of Teaching with the Teach For Australia program, I completed a Bachelor of Arts (English & History) at the University of Sydney, receiving a Distinction average for this degree.
I'm a dedicated teacher with a passion for education and an approach which puts the needs of the learner first. I’m always punctual and prepared for lessons, and bring to my tutoring an infectious level of enthusiasm.

- PASSIONATE ABOUT -
Nature/conservation, education, and storytelling
I worked as Aidan's coach and observed his classroom teaching around 10 times. He's clear, calm, and knowledgeable. He does a great job at meeting his students at the point where they're most ready to learn and always has a very positive outlook. He is always showing students how to best learn by modelling that himself in a really genuine way. He's a great teacher who would be excellent in any educational situation.
Aidan has demonstrated the ability to be able to build positive relationships with all students. He uses his extensive knowledge to differentiate and taylor learning to meet individual needs, strengths and interests.
His lessons are inspiring and cater for all levels or achievement.
He is a natural educator, asking questions, promoting thinking and sharing wonderful insights in order to help students grasp concepts and develop understandings.
