I am a strong believer of every individual's unique style when it comes to Artistic performance so when I teach I am protective of my students uniqueness. With that in mind, I prefer to start from teaching basic breathing techniques and vocal drills.
My teaching method is to learn how to sing freely with good technique as to not to hurt the voice. We work on correct breathing, posture, pitch, dynamics, diction. Learn how to sing in a fun environment .
While I was teached in vocal, my teacher used the SLS (Speech Level Singing) method. It worked perfectly and better than any other method for me. So I do teach the same method to my students because I believe in it.
My teaching methodology is to nurture and grow potential. I focus on improving technique, giving fun tips and tricks, expanding your musicology and providing lots of practical methods as well. You'll learn by doing and through variety and experimentation - you'll enjoy a safe place to expand your voice and singing abilities.
I teach the Estille method of voice which places a large focus on the mechanical workings of the vocal chords and lungs. I also teach my students pieces of technique from other vocal practices. I am a firm believer in teaching correct vocal technique from a very early age.
My teaching Method is practical, aiming to train the voice itself. In the process you will learn musical skills which will help you excel in your singing ability. As a fresh and young male voice, I can better connect with a younger student through being able to relate my experiences with them. I can work with most genres (Pop and indie) as well as choral performance.
I have a hands on approach. I don't believe you need to know the anatomy of the voice when beginning. I think it is important to just 'sing lots', to give the voice lots of use and to find ways to make it fun. To sing things we enjoy while finding ways to explore new ideas and challenges.
I tend to care to the students needs based off of what the students interests are. For example, some students may need a little bit of help with timing so I may use a clapping method whilst getting them to sing. I also go through different songs based off of the students preferences.
Struggling with your range or endurance vocally? Can't finish your songs or get them to sound as good as they do in your head? I've been there too. I'll come to you or you can come to me, we'll play, enjoy ourselves, come up with a plan and a strategy that suits us; and through mutual hard work, learning will ensue.
Trained both musically and in theatrical forms, James Halloran offers piano and vocal lessons with an edge. Holding a bachelors degree in jazz singing, James understands that as a musician, it is just as important to captivate an audience with a performance as it is to have great technique.
Every student is different, and whether your studying theory or voice truth is it can be difficult, I have a fun approach to teaching theory, that normally has students in stitches, my main aim is that you don't see vocal activities or theory as a bore, I want to help you love your craft!
I have a logical and physics based approach for each chosen area so that the student can rationalise and understand by themselves and get to a point where new principles can be derived and self taught due to the understanding of the subject matter.
My personal teaching methodology is a student centred approach. I believe each individual has different methods of learning best suited for them and I try to focus on whats the best for them instead of my own personal preferences. It is the student that comes first. I would love to tutor any ages I don't have a specific preference.
I have a wealth of hands on professional experience and real life practical coaching experience, the lessons are all individually tailored to what the student is out to achieve and the current and ongoing gaps in the student achieving that be it musically, technically or general life skills
I put vocal adequacy and capacity as a priority rather than music theory however, I believe that practicing and refining music theory knowledge aids one's true potential and adds to an individuals vocal and creative talent.
My teaching method is based on a holistic approach. I believe that the voice is a gift of nature and to be used correctly. I provide you with the skills, resources and structured lessons based on creating a better vocal style and a better performance for you to stand up on stage confident with enough emotion and creativity to perform with expression and correct vocal technique.
My lessons would be geared towards younger students, but I am comfortable teaching people of all ages. Lessons would not only involve learning songs, but learning the techniques and ideas that make the songs, and how to use your voice safely.

I believe that empathy is the key to a good learning enviroment, and being flexible towards the student's needs is what makes our time together an accomplishment. Body, mind, art, and emotions are all part of the music journey, and taking care of all these aspects is what will make you understand and go deep into music.
I use a combination of methods in my practice, depending on the genre I am teaching. These include elements of the Estill school- especially in music theatre and contemporary styles, with Accent Method and traditional Bel Canto techniques geared towards classical students. I encourage students to sing in a variety of styles and learn to adapt their techniques to become versatile performers.
The structure of my teaching method for singing/vocal technique is by starting my lessons with an introduction to breathing and the Alexander Technique. Breathing and the Alexander Technique is essential to a singer/musician's technique. It teaches proper posture, breathing, and movement and allows the student to be a safe performer.
My lessons will start with basic breathing techniques and warm ups, followed by working through a range of genres that the student is willing to dive into. This allows growth in techniques that are present in different genres. We work to have fun pieces, technical pieces and those we aim to perfect in the future. My students always arrive and leave with a smile on their face.
I have had very strict teachers in the past as well as very gentle ones. I think that the kind of teaching method that works best depends entirely on the person being taught, sometimes you need to be kicked into practicing regularly and taking it seriously and other times you need a teacher who will give you a confidence boost and help you to enjoy music.
My teaching method is collaborative, encouraging and based on each individual need. I believe the expression of music belongs to everyone and I would love to help nature yours, wether that by through voice, songwriting, music production or a combination of all.
