Preparing for an audition? Singing for a friends wedding? Or maybe you have a sore voice when you sing? Do you just really, really love to sing? I teach adults of all ages how to develop their voice, prepare for auditions, performances and help with vocal pain.
I teach the Estille method of voice which places a large focus on the mechanical workings of the vocal chords and lungs. I also teach my students pieces of technique from other vocal practices. I am a firm believer in teaching correct vocal technique from a very early age.
I start everyone off playing simple music in a style they are familiar and engaged in to get them comfortable on their instrument, then use their own personal goals and intentions with the instrument to guide their progression.
Understanding the individual students needs is my primary focus. From there, we build up an appreciation and enjoyment for practicing music, developing necessary skills along the way. I teach by example, believing that the student must be inspired by the tutor, that way I can pass on my love and appreciation for the subject.
My teaching methodology is to make sure my students really understand the concepts they are learning and why they work. I want my students to be able to apply their knowledge in different contexts, not just reproduce information. As a qualified teacher I have experience working with students with different learning styles and I am able to cater my lessons towards those students.
Since retiring from my position as a university lecturer I am now offering private lessons to violin students at all levels in classical and folk styles, including the AMEB exam syllabus. Learning and refining skills and knowledge is most satisfying and rapid when we are fully engaged in the learning process.
I customize my sessions and lessons based on the needs and/or interests of the client/student. I am experienced in teaching note reading and classical methodologies as well as contemporary chording and improvisation.
My lessons teach music theory through practice, skills and technique in order to learn the language of music. I teach music literacy and theory through singing and piano. My lessons are ideal for learning music at an excellent level. You will leave my sessions having not only a well-developed knowledge of theory but singing and piano playing as well.
Mxy teaching methodology is based on the ability of the student, I firstly asses each student and see which level they are on, therefore, I can create a plan that will help them achieve their ultimate goal.
The methodology is changed according with the student's profile and your motivation, but basically in the cello I started with the basic technique, since posture until playing and reading sheet music. I usually use many books such as Suzuki, Dotzauer, Feulliard, Duos and Trios books, etc. The class must be dynamic and enjoyable.
I will get to know the students level of proficiency and how they best learn and plan the lessons from there. I will set homework which is achievable and therefore allows for the student to stay engaged and enjoying the lessons.
My teaching methodology places the student as the centre of importance. Whether learning takes place in a private or group tutoring session, I believe that musical learning should always have the student in focus.
At the moment I am mainly teaching beginners but I can also help people who have some experience in Music and wish to see my approach in teaching. I focus mainly on getting the basics of singing down packed at first, and then continue to improve on smaller details as the singer improves.
I am passionate about developing singing voices that are healthy, strong and unique! I teach all ages, but particularly love assisting students through the foundations of healthy singing, picking songs that suit your voice and working on vocal technique through exercises and song work.
My approach to teaching depends on the subject I am teaching. For subjects that are conceptual, like law or literature, I tend to be more conversational and create analogies so that students can understand subtle points I am trying to make. For subjects that are motor based, such as guitar performance, I am methodical and drill my students to refine particular areas of their skill base.
As a former professional horn player in the Symphony Orchestra scene, I have extensive performance experience and have a passion of passing on my knowledge to others. I have a Bachelor of Music from the Qld Conservatorium and can teach horn, trumpet, piano and flute.
I make sure to cater to the student's way of learning and integrate play in my teaching.
I am willing to teach students of all ages and will cater my teaching to meet your individual needs. I believe every student should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential. I will be able to help you improve your skills in all subjects.
My lessons will contain segments of theory as well as practical for an all Round performer. They will include theory on how to read music, sing correctly with technique and perform the song convincingly. Easy and willing to travel for my students.
I prepare students who wish to study for leisure and also for both AMEB exams and Trinity College exams. I have studied Suzuki as well as Montesorri and incorporate these methods into my pedagogy.

After personally struggling with music theory in school I learnt many short cuts and different ways to approach situations. This is something I find really important because one way doesn’t work for everyone.
My teaching method is highly student centered and allows space to focus directly where the student operates at using strategies which cater to their specific learning needs. My experience is in teaching students at a K-6 level but am fully capable of teaching students from years 7-10.

I also love to explain about musical terms. For the practical side of things, I teach students to count to maintain the rhythm. When it comes to reading notes, there are certain methologies I incorporate. Since each student's learning abilities and personalities vary, I try to be as creative as possible in planning lessons and to help the students enjoy their learning experiences.
My teaching is based around composition. I want to show you the skills and theory required to make music you like the sound of. It’s all based around your influences. We will touch on basic guitar and piano/keyboard chords as well as vocal and lyric writing, bass and percussion ideas over an hour lesson. As the lessons progress we’ll look at arranging and writing music together.
