My teaching approach always considers the specific needs and experience of the student. From the basics in music theory and composition to more advanced subjects, I'll always make sure learning is structured and paced appropriately. You'll learn many of the theoretical aspects of theory/composition as well as growing your own unique approach to learning about and writing music.
I try to keep my lesssons reasonably basic until I ascertain my students skill levels. From that point I can then decide how to approach music theory and playing ability. I've always found that being a patient listener is the most important tool in a teacher's toolbox as well as a sharp sense of a students confidence.
After personally struggling with music theory in school I learnt many short cuts and different ways to approach situations. This is something I find really important because one way doesn’t work for everyone.

My lessons are aimed at those with beginner to intermediate level music theory knowledge. I assess what previous knowledge the student has to plan out appropriate direction for future lessons. These lessons will generally involve revision of previous concepts, teaching of new concepts and then implementing the concepts in practice.
My teaching methodology is based on an understanding that every student is individual, has their own capabilities and interests, and thus each student will have a unique rubric catered to them. Lessons will always be educational but never boring. As a pianist myself, I will ensure that your playing will show vast improvement in technique and musicianship.
Individual students deserve individual curriculum for teaching; I feel it is important to have a student first excited and engaged before extensive theory.
I like to base my classes on the way I learned piano when I was younger. No exams, nothing that puts too much pressure on your child as this can take the love of music away from a person.
I approach music student lessons with a structure that brings together the student's current abilities with their potential to grow in a particular field. I model a learning activity, allowing the student to contribute/participate, while gradually increasing the level of challenge. This works particularly well in live performance studies.
My teaching method is traditional but is very focused on individual needs. Whilst my background is western classical, I appreciate that students may want to explore other genres - exploring jazz, rock and musical theatre for example. I believe there is no better teacher than experience, so my teaching method consists of a quick cover of the fundamentals of the topic at hand, followed by multiple exercises which the student(s) undertake under my supervision. This way, the student(s) gain a comprehensive understanding of how different practices are used in music and put it to use themselves.

I start everyone off playing simple music in a style they are familiar and engaged in to get them comfortable on their instrument, then use their own personal goals and intentions with the instrument to guide their progression.
People learn differently and therefore different teaching methods are required for each different student. Kinetic engagement is a demand of most musical pursuits but some people benefit from a strong grounding in music theory before advancing with hands on training.
My teaching method is fluid based on the individual's learning style and desired outcome. I ask all students to decide on their goals and time frame and we work together to achieve this. I believe that music is a joy and aim to foster that joy in others.
Understanding the individual students needs is my primary focus. From there, we build up an appreciation and enjoyment for practicing music, developing necessary skills along the way. I teach by example, believing that the student must be inspired by the tutor, that way I can pass on my love and appreciation for the subject.
I've been teaching since out of high school for seven years with my experience with students ranging from 4 years old to students in their 60s and 70s. I always offer my students chocolates or a cup of tea to make them feel welcome and confortable to express theirselves and trust, as it is very important that there is a trust relationship between tutor and student. We start the lesson with learning the technique, and then applying the technique on their favourite songs that they always love to play or sing.
My lessons teach music theory through practice, skills and technique in order to learn the language of music. I teach music literacy and theory through singing and piano.
