My teaching method is based on my general knowledge i have on subjects such as social sciences, geography, maths and writing. If i am not confident about a particularly topic, I will make sure I acquire the necessary knowledge about that topic either through the internet or state library then apply this knowledge to my student.
Every aspect of English has several different angels from which to explain. Using every angel creates a solid understanding. Not every learner is an auditory learner, I incorporate visual aides wherever possible, and try to relate to the learner through their interests.
CIARA KIRBY I am a committed, hardworking student with a strong work ethic and friendly attitude. I am currently undertaking a bachelor degree in Arts at the University of Melbourne. I am enthusiastic and very interested in working with students of all year levels to help them achieve their best.
I am a third-year student in a Bachelor of English, looking to complete honors. I have won the Newcastle Short Story Award, shortlisted for the Monash University Prize, and have an upcoming publication with the ASSF. In 2017, I was placed on the Faculty Commendation List for Education and the Arts. I received marks of 90+ for my creative writing courses at the University of Newcastle.
My teaching method consists of talking with the student and firstly discussing areas they are having the most difficulty with, and developing a lesson plan most suited to their learning style. We then then break down the problem into small manageable segments and work through them at the students pace, providing examples and encouraging them to attempt the problem themselves.
What works best for the student. Online or face-to-face sessions works for me. I'm good at reviewing drafts and getting you the perfect paper for submission. Can also assist in guiding you on how to start off.
I assist students that are struggling with specific aspects or tasks (presentation, speech, essay). The students bring their problem to the table, and we work together to solve the issue. Lessons are usually an hour long, and we use Skype, and email to exchange documents and send annotated copies of work.
My priority is to gain an understanding of my student's level of knowledge and what they would like to achieve. I believe that the key to success as a tutor is to approach teaching with the mindset of a student, that way we can work together to solve problems rather than be limited to a rigid, one-way-street form of learning.
Being a young student and having only been in high school not so long ago myself, I understand the classroom scenario and how difficult it can be as a student to keep up. It is my intention to help you, the student, in any way possible and fit the lesson to your learning style. I am a big believer that English isn't just important for passing English, it is a life skill.
I'm a friendly, creative and flexible uni student with 10 years of experience working with kids. I graduated in 2015 and currently study at the University of Melbourne.
I focus on the learner and diagnose where they're at, as well as work out where they want or need to be. I scaffold them to that endpoint. As a teacher I am enthusiastic and engaging, and make the lessons relevant to the student. My teaching style includes a lot of discussion. As a teacher I am fair, but I am firm.
- My primary goal as a tutor is to ensure the student develops their own personal strategies and techniques when faced with work. My tutoring philosophy centers around the idea of 'leading by example', I help the student get organised, motivated and prepared to tackle assignments by offering guidance on how to approach a task.
I approach the topic by catering to the students needs and desires. Some students may want challenge? Others may like a soft approach, some may need to be pushed... I like to understand my student and give them the freedom to be dynamic.
My teaching methods are to encourage and motivate students through praise and reward based learning, ensuring content is fun and students are engaged.
Lessons can be modified and suited to students needs. I can help students with a range of aspects to do with English, such as writing techniques, comprehension, noting, drafting and assignment help. Lessons tend to be 1 hour long but exceptions can be made.
Lessons are personalised and may include assistance with school topics, assessments, writing projects, or can be individualised to topics of interest. My teaching methods vary depending on the needs of the student. A lesson plan (or term plan) will be provided at the beginning of the session.
Hello! My name is Emily Dodd and I am studying Advanced Humanities at UQ. I graduated from Brisbane State High School in 2016. I am particularly interested in tutoring high school students who may be finding English or the Humanities challenging and need a helping hand.
I believe in guided inquiry and fostering the creativity and critical capacity of students. I believe in a good, positive atmosphere and constructive dialogue between student and teacher where both feel respected and engaged. Learning should be fun and never dull.
I'm currently in my last year of a Creative Arts and Arts degree at the University of Wollongong. My majors are Creative Writing and English Literature.
I am a highly motivated and passionate recent High School graduate who is extremely knowledgeable about the WACE program. I am able to offer lessons for Literature, English, Philosophy and Art and have successfully increased the grades of past students.
I believe in helping students understand the ideas and principles behind what they are learning on a conceptual basis rather than relying on rote memorization. Ultimately the goal of tuition is to develop students who are capable and independent learners.
Hi there, my name is Tyla and I would love to help you out! I understand that there is a world of diverse learners out there so first I would get to know your learning style so that I can better understand how to help you succeed.

I like to think outside of the box and find links with the student's current understanding to build their grasp of the subject and to do this I use a variety strategies to assist me, such as; games, music, repetition, deconstruction and making analogies with popular culture. I believe understanding is often there already, it just has to be brought into the student's conscious.
I am very easygoing and love to let my passion for literature and reading shine through my lessons. We will be reading excerpts from famous poems, novels, and short stories to really read in between the lines and analyze various texts. I'll make sure to make it interesting and include Youtube videos, online games, and real world problems that we will solve together.
I want to help my students flourish as creative writers. Together we will work on the essentials of creative writing, such as: brainstorming, plotting, narrative structure, character development, drafting and editing.
I take a student-led approach by first asking students to come to me with what they need to work on. I first assess what the student knows and try to build from there, working together to extend their knowledge on a particular subject. We end the lesson by recapping what has been learnt and work together on a plan for the next lesson.
I am in my mid forties with wide ranging experiences. Utilising this, along with my long standing passion for literature and drama I am able to relate information to most students in a way that they can understand. I will ensure there is always an introduction, comprehension and confirm their comprehension of the subject is accurate.
