I adapt each lesson to the particular needs of the student. I am able to find their weakness and build their confidence and skills in English, to improve and advance their grades. I understand that students can find literacy and English difficult, and am able to recognise if we need to go back a few steps (e.g. Grammar and Syntax) in order to progress in their writing.
I'm a postgraduate psychology student available to tutor all students, up to year 12, in english, and all students up to year 10 in maths, physics and chemistry. I am able to help your student with all of the content in these subjects, but most importantly I can teach them the relevant learning techniques so they'll be able to succeed without me.
My teaching method is based on the student's particular interests. I believe teaching can be done in many ways. My primary way of teaching is to start off with spelling and reading. The key to becoming a great essay or story writer is for your words to flow effortlessly. With my guidance and encouragement, any student with a passion or goal will be on their way to achieving it.
I provide a safe and supportive learning environment for my students through building positive relationships as well as teaching engaging and enjoyable lessons. Along with my seven years of classroom teacher experience I have also completed over 100 hours of professional development and therefore can draw on a number of different strategies depending on the students learning style learning needs.
My teaching approach is a firm but patient method. I am a fun enthusiastic person willing to work step by step with all students. Lesson structures include reading, spelling, referencing and homework/assignment help. I provide continual support for all students.
Firstly I would help the students establish some goals, based on things they want to improve on in the upcoming topic, by targeting their weaknesses. Setting some objectives for the lesson so that the student knows what to expect and can feel fulfilled after completing the tasks.
I teach using a hands on, inquiry method to get students thinking about the 'why' behind their studies. I also use regular movement breaks as studies have shown this technique to be effective, particularly when working with younger children. I help students to gain the confidence they need to achieve success in their examinations and in regular classroom settings.
I am a nurturing tutor, however, I don't like excuses, a growth mindset is a must in my lessons. Nothing is impossible and my lessons are geared towards those who would like to realise their potential in a safe and fun environment where you will be challenged and valued for your effort. If you are prepared to put the work in, you will reap greater rewards.
My way of teaching is to work with the student to assist them in finding ways to give their writing more depth. I like to work collaboratively and give each student the confidence to step out of their comfort zone to find an ability they did not realise existed within themselves.
When teaching, I focus on three key things in every lesson: establishing a growth mindset, effectively differentiating for each student, and ensuring my students feel valued. A growth mindset is when a student moves from saying "I can't" to saying "I can't yet". I work with every student to ensure they feel capable of improving, even if it's their least favourite subject.
I can guarantee that my lessons will cater to your ability in addition to being engaging. I value reflective practice, am determined to provide the most suitable methodology to your needs and approach every lesson with clear, structured activities.
My teaching philosophy is centred on understanding. My belief is that if a student has the proper groundwork in place, they can achieve anything! Hence, my focus tends not to be on just completing a specific assignment or essay but on a deeper comprehension of texts and questions.
I have a deep passion for making real differences in the lives of my students and their learning journey through laser-focused instruction, my watchful eye and customised expertise to benefit students directly and witness their sparks of comprehension; equipping them with critical study skills to become independent lovers of learning.
I approach tutoring by taking my students seriously as people with genuine interests, skills and abilities and not simply treating them as children. Lessons are tailored to the students needs and interests, and will involve a variety of mediums, both practical and intellectual, (via hands-on, discussion-based, written, creative, etc), any methods which best assists them.
I am flexible and can adapt my lessons to my students. I believe that knowledge is power. I like to break work down and do it in steps - I believe this is the best way to learn and remember.
My teaching philosophy and practice are based on Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory and on the Complex Thinking hierarchy established by De Bono. This requires me to firstly establish how my students process information and at what level they are currently working to establish a learning style and sequence which most suits them and will give them success while also stretching their skill set.
I believe that students learn best when they are enjoying the subject. Therefore, I strive to implement a student-based approach to my teaching by tailoring my method of information delivery or teaching strategy to better suit the student's needs and interests. Hence, I am willing to utilize a variety of mediums and creative activities to connect with the student in terms that they can understand.
Students learn best when the lessons are suited to their learning style. I work on the visual, auditory, kinesthetic system - that is do you learn best by watching, listening or doing. By understanding the student's style of learning, the ability for the student to increase their skills and knowledge is possible.
I specialise in supporting primary school kids experiencing particular difficulties in reading, writing and comprehension. I have a high level of success using lessons that are fun and reinforce their sense of competence and experience of success.
My teaching methodology is student-directed. I provide input and support as needed, but structure the lesson around each student's particular point of need. I have extensive experience working with students who need assistance with a subject of difficulty, particularly English.
I usually start with a thorough diagnostic assessment . I also like to find out what interests students have so that I can plan lessons around them individually as far as possible. If it were literacy I would usually do a Woodcock assessment. For other writing/ reading skills I would ask for an essay to look at to get me started on where "gaps" in understanding or skills lie.
Hello! My name is Christine. Originally from Tasmania, I started living and teaching in Brisbane about four years ago. Growing up, English and Chinese have been my favourite subjects and hope to help students make the most of them (or either) as well.
CIARA KIRBY I am a committed, hardworking student with a strong work ethic and friendly attitude. I am currently undertaking a bachelor degree in Arts at the University of Melbourne. I am enthusiastic and very interested in working with students of all year levels to help them achieve their best.
During my time in schools, I have taken a focus on bettering my students' understanding of Standard Australian English by: - Taking a ground-up perspective on learning (What does the student already know? What do they need to know to get better?). - Making use of detailed feedback.
I try to personalise my teaching method based on what student hopes to gain from the lessons. I take the time to get to know the student in order to connect the topics to their interests/hobbies, ideally, increasing motivitation. I make sure to always teach at the best speed for the student, even if that means moving through topics at a slower or faster pace than ititially planned.
My personal teaching philosophy is inspired by American educator, Rita Pierson. In her inspirational TED talk "Every Kid Needs a Champion", she poignantly states that "kids don't learn from people they don't like!". This statement truly resonates with me, and I believe education should be centred around human connection and meaningful relationships.
My teaching style is at times focused on building skills in task-based scenarios, and also problem solving approaches that are that promote for student centred learning, preferably, because in my limited tutoring experience- and as a student- these have provided a chance for me to be actively listening/learning and interactive.
Primary and high school students have LOTS of fun in my lessons, and when students have fun they LEARN and REMEMBER what they need to remember. All my lessons are student-centred so they cater for personality, ability and effort. I always make students laugh a lot and open up their minds to finding their massive potential.
I do my best to work at the student's pace so they don't become overwhelmed. I discover what their learning language is (be it through verbal cues, visual cues, etc) and find ways to use that to teach them. I am very patient and understanding, so I am able to work with students who have a harder time understanding what is expected of them and what they need to do.
My teaching methodology is basically a mixture of many complimentary methods rather than one . It may start with a lecture on a topic followed by THE DISCUSSION ,DEMONSTRATION...BRAINSTORMING and ROLE PLAYS. I prefer to craft a lesson according to the students strengths and weaknesses.
