Learning guitar is fun. I want to help you learn in the way best suits you. Learn the style you want to learn. Depending on your skill level a typical lesson might be, discussing a song you'd like to learn going over the chords used, having a jam and getting the strumming pattern.
I tend to be more practical, less of theory. Music should be fun and enjoyable. Hence, I usually expose students immediately to songs that are applicable and relatable to make learning enjoyable. I believe their knowledge and skills improve better when we play songs straight away.
I have taught from the AMEB, CPM, ANZCA Modern, Classical and Rock syllabi. My students have all achieved outstanding grades whilst also learning a great deal of free choice repertoire. My focus is on music theory, various warm up exercises, aural tests, sight reading exercises, scales, chords, picking exercises, improvisation and rhythm structure.
Here to teach you the basics, we can work towards learning whichever songs you like, in a totally chill, relaxed atmosphere, as long as you’re enthusiastic, we will get along!
My teaching method is teaching the person the basics in the beginning then letting that person develop his skills through practice. No rush is needed when wanting to learn something. The person learns at his own pace and then each time one level is achieved, I move on to the next level.

My teaching methods vary from student to student. I understand the importance of listening skills and empathy when teaching and interacting with the students. I strive to be a clear communicator. I strive to make the learning process to be engaging & fun with activities and getting the student to participate in the lesson, instead of being a passive observer.
My lessons are fun and informative! I have many ways of guiding you through the three main components of music education: Melody, Harmony & Rhythm. Music theory & music reading options are also available.
I believe in understanding a students needs and requirements and my lessons are based on what the student wants to learn. I believe a solid foundation in music theory is essential for students to understand music and be able to move forward in their learning.
Most lessons will go like this: First, we'll just talk, just chatting for a bit. Then, we'll do warm ups and tuning, then we'll probably either learn something new in the endless mystery that is music, or we'll play a game or song, either way we will end up doing both. At this stage we'll probably talk about musical tastes, and maybe individual tunes from songs that you know.
My teaching methodology varies according to age, experience level and overall personality of the student. When teaching children, lessons should focus on what music is (rythm and harmony) and on what music they enjoy and why. When teaching initial level students, I'll focus on learning the specifics of guitar and developing a refined understanding of music.
I like a practical but also theoretical approach to learning guitar. I find it important to have the physical skills and basic fingering down first, then build some musical theory and reading knowledge so as to create a base for later improvement. I find listening an essential part of learning music as well and find it is important for the student to learn through their ears.
All the information provided to the student is what they would use in a real stage/studio situation. That includes the guitar technique, music theory, repertoire according to student’s tendencies, breathing, relaxing, pschological frame of mind, relationship with the band members and the audience.
My method includes lessons of variable duration but high intensity, where we try to get to the bottom of the topic by understanding its essence.
As a composer I try to impart the rewarding songwriting technique of Counterpoint to my students. I also get my students to understand the chord progressions and scales used within the pieces they like to learn. I encourage a strong focus on the music of The Beatles as well as other 60's and 70's band.
First I teach the basic accords to play. Those are the key elements to start learning to play. When you learned how to play a couple of songs I will start to teach you different ways to play, different genres and techniques.
My method is to start with a simple theme, either a rhythm, a chord, a scale and expand it into an original piece of music. Teach students how they can apply these tools to learn & master the guitar. The key is to create achievable goals and focus on these with each lesson.
- RHYTHM GUITAR (various types of accompaniment) - LEAD GUITAR (lead parts, melody, soloing/improvisation) - PLECTRUM and FINGER-PICKING techniques for Songs, etc - CHORDS, SCALES, FINGERBOARD knowledge, MUSIC THEORY - developing RHYTHM, reading MUSICAL or TABLATURE NOTATION - and many other useful skills Hi, my name is Tim, and I can help you develop your musical, creative and expressive...
My approach is student centered. I design lessons to fit the individual needs of each student. This is the main reason I prefer to teach individually, as i can give my full attention to each student. I teach a combination of music theory and technique, but the lessons are flexible.

My methodology for teaching is to create a fun and no pressure environment but also assure the student that each lesson is a step in the right direction for their musical journey, making music accessible for everyone is my greatest goal as I believe that anyone can play any instrument to any level as long as they put their mind to it and keep that passion in mind the whole time with small goals...
