My teaching method is based on the student's particular interests. I believe teaching can be done in many ways. My primary way of teaching is to start off with spelling and reading. The key to becoming a great essay or story writer is for your words to flow effortlessly. With my guidance and encouragement, any student with a passion or goal will be on their way to achieving it.
My teaching methods are focused around individual students, first ascertaining what it is that they need to focus on, and working on those areas in a way that is most effective for their learning style and helps them achieve their goals. I often use guided exercises to help a student discover things for themselves, as I find this is the most effective way of cementing knowledge.
I live ten minutes walk from Cavendish Road State High School. I prefer to tutor at my place however, I am open to traveling short distances to a student's preferred location. I can also tutor at UQ St Lucia if that suits the student.
I structure my approach around the needs of the student.
I specialise in Essay writing (particularly for high school) and general grammar editing of any written work. I excel at writing and achieved 100% in all my Year 12 assessments by learning a few simple ways to write and structure an essay effectively.
My classes are run focused on enthusiasm and fun! I am a bubbly, enthusiastic person and my classes reflect that. I'm looking for students that are as excited to learn as I am to teach.
My teaching methods vary depending on the age and requirements of the student. I pride myself on being adaptable to the individual needs of my students and work closely with them to develop a method that will optimise the outcomes of my lessons. Each of my lessons is tailored around the individual needs of the student and works to aid them in relevant areas of study.
I am a nurturing tutor, however, I don't like excuses, a growth mindset is a must in my lessons. Nothing is impossible and my lessons are geared towards those who would like to realise their potential in a safe and fun environment where you will be challenged and valued for your effort. If you are prepared to put the work in, you will reap greater rewards.
I believe that every child is unique hence the one size fits all method cannot be applied. I centre my lessons around the student themselves and operate within their strength zone but outside of their comfort zone. I believe in constant improvement hence my teaching method involves using their strengths to improve their weaknesses.
When teaching, I focus on three key things in every lesson: establishing a growth mindset, effectively differentiating for each student, and ensuring my students feel valued. A growth mindset is when a student moves from saying "I can't" to saying "I can't yet". I work with every student to ensure they feel capable of improving, even if it's their least favourite subject.
My teaching method is based on positive reinforcement and encouragement paired with practical assistance and proven study strategies. My aim is to provide guidance, increase students' sense of accomplishment and overall capability, provide structure to study activities and keep learning tasks engaging in order to unlock potential.
Since Creative Writing, I believe, should be more enjoyed than learnt, I base most of my lessons on interesting articles to read and the context that drives such writing. Following a thorough discussion, I also give creative assignments such as essays, poems and plays to write, so students can have their own little taste of writing.
I am flexible in my tutoring style - I am available to mark homework or essays, help with assignments and exam preparation, and am helpful in going in depth through the prescribed high school syllabus (which I am familiar with as a recent graduate).
I can guarantee that my lessons will cater to your ability in addition to being engaging. I value reflective practice, am determined to provide the most suitable methodology to your needs and approach every lesson with clear, structured activities.
I am outgoing, friendly lessons were for students years behind in education. I have rarely had to structure a lesson plan that was the teachers job. Teaching methods - simplicity promotes understanding.
I teach by constantly readjusting my teaching style to the individualistic needs of the student. Whether they learn visually, hands-on or through theory I will provide suitable stimuli to improve their results and abilities. I can easily do mathematical sums in my head and am good at making up example questions.
My teaching method revolves mainly around what the student is struggling with and what can be improved upon. I would structure classes around building upon practice exams or actual exams undertaken by the student and finding out what can be improved upon, largely looking at sentence structure and the use of language.
My lessons benefit students actively looking to improve themselves in their given subject field, and with a passion and genuine interest in the subject. Private sessions offer the best experience as it means I'll have more time to interact with the student one on one. Workload will vary depending on the student.
My teaching method is based around breaking things down, whether it's deconstructing texts to find their themes and the literary devices that are used to show these themes, or breaking down a huge topic into key ideas that can become topic sentences in an essay.
I am a very easy going person who is strict with learning. I set myself a few goals before attempting to teach the class to know how the lesson could be beneficial. I generally plan my classwork beforehand so that I could go through it again and be prepared as much as I can so that I do not waste time doing other things and focus on each child.
Do you struggle with understanding what an author is trying to convey through their text? Do you struggle to remember language, aural or visual techniques used in various mediums? Do you want some exam preparation help? That's where I come in!
I studied Primary School Teaching at QUT where the main philosophy used was constructivism and scaffolding. I ask the parents where their child is having problems and what their marks have been like and aim to improve their marks, build on their existing knowledge and improve their results. I also try to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible.
The teaching methods I use include extensive tests - this is to not only prepare my students for tests and exams within their classrooms but also to better evaluate what it is I should be focusing on with the individual student, The reward system- I keep a box of small wrapped up stationary and fun little toys so that once my student reaches their set goal on a test for that week they may have a...
Depending on the skill level of the student, I will tailor the lesson to suit the student. This can range from homework to unblocking writer's block. These lessons would be most suitable for: - Completing school tasks; - Starting creative tasks; - Completing essays; - Structuring essays; - Proofreading and editing; and - Brainstorming storylines and foreshadowing.
My teaching philosophy and practice are based on Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory and on the Complex Thinking hierarchy established by De Bono. This requires me to firstly establish how my students process information and at what level they are currently working to establish a learning style and sequence which most suits them and will give them success while also stretching their skill set.
I believe that students learn best when they are enjoying the subject. Therefore, I strive to implement a student-based approach to my teaching by tailoring my method of information delivery or teaching strategy to better suit the student's needs and interests. Hence, I am willing to utilize a variety of mediums and creative activities to connect with the student in terms that they can understand.
I approach my teaching method by making sure my students are comfortable with me and have them explain to me what it is they would like for me to teach them. From there, I like to communicate with the student and create a lesson plan to follow where I will thoroughly teach them the skills necessary to improve in all aspects of English and help them further their marks in the subject.
I am a firm believer that students each have their own learning style and that the role of a tutor is to develop personalised strategies to ensure they maximise their learning potential.
' Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel'. - Socrates. To my mind, education and the pursuit of knowledge is the means by which an individual can attain genuine autonomy, liberating them to determine the shape of their own destiny. With this in mind, in teaching students, I aim to enlighten and inspire, rather than enforce instruction.
My teaching methods are discussion-based. Together, we work through the problem from the simplest point, unraveling complex essay questions or getting started on that giant pile of exam revision. I prefer to get to know my students, and adapt to what they need. I can work with anyone from Year 4 on wards. Simply put, I ask the right questions so they can come to the conclusion themselves.
