As a university student who is currently majoring Law with Honours, I aim to help and guide students who have trouble finding the motivation to study, memorize or even seek help from relevant teaching staff to clarify their doubts.
I base my classes/teaching on the current syllabus. I have learnt patience during my tutoring experience as not all students are the same when it comes to their learning capacity. I try to make my teaching as easy as possible for the students to comprehend and revisiting topics which are unclear to the students are very vital.
I believe that learning is a process of exploration and discovery, where we practise valuable skills. Learning does not have to result in a perfect finished product. I create a supportive and stimulating learning environment for my students, by incorporating scaffolded open experiences and tasks which extend thinking, imagination and motivation.
I believe all lessons should be focused around the student and their needs. I'd like to start by identifying exactly what the student is having trouble with. I know that homework can often pile up so I think the best way forward is to begin with basics, to make sure the student understands the area of English they need to work on, so then we can build up to working through homework and assignments.
My teaching method is first getting to know the student and build a friendly relation where the student can trust me and be open to me like a friend so that I can give my best to help the student and help him perform in the class and can achieve their goals.
I am flexible in my approach. Especially for year 11/12 students I help them to prepare for TCE exams - understand the course content, and how to apply this to exams and assignments they are given.
A teaching method i used on a student of mine is by looking for their weaknesses or areas in the learning that they do not understand.
I keep trying different methods until I find a window of learning that works for the individual student. My preferred approach is to build a trusting relationship rapport with the student as a person, leading to rapport. Any child can learn when they feel safe, relaxed and motivated.
I can work on one-off projects assisting with academic writing and structure or tutor on a regular basis in a particular discipline or subject area. I am happy to work in a flexible mode, to consult and/or tutor face-to-face or use online technologies.
I will prepare before i teach anyone. I have my own skills to make them understand, i will teach them in always by giving examples and practical knowledge about the topic and basic concept and make them perfect in the skill.
