I prefer to start with the basics just to get an idea of where to start. If the student isn't quite sure where they're getting lost my second step includes a bit of quizzing with me either going over the work afterwards or following along. Once I have a grasp of the students learning style my next step is to break the problem into smaller more understandable parts. This might include changing the problem to be more relevant towards the real world. However depending on the student they may find it easier to apply the concept in a much simpler form to a concept they're already proficient with.
Others find it easiest if I do an example problem with clearly labeled steps to use aa a guideline. Once they're capable of doing it with my help I step back and let them try it on their own. If they're still struggling, depending on whether or not its a different part of the problem, I may repeat the steps focusing on that particular part or try another teaching approach.
For the most part my teaching style is very adaptive around the student. I myself struggled with having different learning styles from teachers and always try my best to accommodate to the students needs.

Perfect! Jackwelyne is amazing! I am so happy that I found her. She is patient and willing to walk through each step with you until you understand. I'm almost certain that I learned more from her than my professor. She brings a lot of knowledge and problem solving skills to the table; mix that with her kind professional demeanor -- I wouldn't go with any other tutor!
