I approach tutoring by taking my students seriously and not treating them as just kids. Lessons are tailored to the students needs and interests, and will involve a variety of mediums, both practical and intellectual, via hands-on, discussion-based, written, creative, etc, anything which will best assist them. Having encountered and experienced many different education styles and systems, I am aware of how these often fail students, so my goal is to reach the student wherever they are really at.
I am down-to-earth, patient and flexible, whilst setting realistic expectations. I also like to vary the learning environment to maximise learner engagement.
Learning from experience as well as using this as a tool in problem-solving is key. Movies, games, literature, nature, pets, hobbies, food, friends and family are all potential sources of learning.
I believe this kind of learning and encouragement (with some fun along the way!) is crucial to the personal growth and flourishing of young people.
As a theater student my focus is in the performing arts. I believe we are all storytellers, but it's how we share our experiences that has the potential to touch others' lives. My love of learning extends further to areas including history and those presently studied: philosophy, theology and writing.
Among other passions of mine are craft and visual art, sports, the outdoors, music, volunteering, and working especially with kids and young people.
My past experience covers not only arts/theater (in school and my local community,) as I also have over 2 years hands on experience as a qualified gymnastics coach (having competed myself in high school), and 2 months rural work as a hand on a remote cattle station in NT. Furthermore, I spent a year as a full-time volunteer youth minster on a team with NET Ministries Australia (2017) travelling the country extensively, working with young people (both primary and high school,) helping facilitate over 100 events whilst serving as drama leader on the team. I also love reading good books and creative writing (poetry and historical fiction are personal favourites), and riding my bike (but never all at the same time).
Past experiences tutoring high school students (various subjects)

Current First Aid certificate

I've known Lydia my whole life, and I've seen her talent for drawing grow from absolute basics, to some of the most detailed and beautiful drawings I've ever seen someone I know make. Lydia employs many styles, and has great focus. I would recommend her for advice on art work, as well as on any questions relating to drawing. If you want someone who really knows how to draw, don't go any further than Lydia.
