My method of teaching has always been to provide real life examples in relation to the curriculum work. Using students' current activities has also helped them connect with the content. Having students use paper work and a mixture of hands-on activities has connected the work and shown that each student has their own areas at which they excel. Student participation in discussions and peer tutoring has also formed a large part of my teaching. A change of words often helps students gain a greater understanding. Reinforcing to students that everyone has their own talents is key to them gaining confidence in their abilities. Setting the expectations high, emphasising that as long as they "have done their very best", then they have succeeded has always been a key focus of my teaching. I believe students live up to expectations and strive harder to make that improvement.
I have worked as Registered Nurse on an orthopaedic ward for 6 to 7 years. I have taught years 2, 4, 5 and 6 in my 18 years working as a Primary trained teacher. Through that time, and currently, I have tutored students from pre primary to Year 10.
