My name is Max, I am from Berlin and I am currently enrolled in a study-abroad program at Swinburne Uni, studying chemistry. In Germany, I study a teachers degree in both chemistry and english. My stay in Australia is part of my scholarship that I receive from the Foundation of German Business. I have taught many students before, especially first-year medicine students who had to pass weekly chemistry tests. All students that I taught passed these tests and apart from that, came to like chemistry as a subject.
Before studying chemistry, I have done an apprenticeship as chemical technician at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, so I am confident in saying that I know more than just the mere theory.
I think what qualifies me for being a good tutor is that I am very patient. I will never make you feel uncomfortable or pressured if you need your time to understand certain things. On the contrary, I enjoy finding explanations, images or words that allow you to grasp the topic we deal with!
I have started giving chemistry lessons in 2015, first individually, later in groups of up to six students. As I study to be a teacher, I used this opportunity to thoroughly plan the sessions I had, so I would not go to meetings without having prepared any exercises. I believe that, in chemistry, it is quite important to not jump from one topic to the other but to stick with one topic at a time before going further.
As mentioned before, I am also a chemical technician by profession. I have worked in organic chemistry in Germany, Sweden and France. At the moment I am taking chemistry classes at Swinburne Uni of Technology.
