My number one focus point is encouragement; I am committed to making sure a student knows when their efforts are valued and encouraging them to excel while making sure to celebrate their successes.
Flexibility and patience are also important to me: I love finding the right way to explain a particular concept to an individual student as each student learns differently. I see it as a puzzle to be solved if my initial explanation isn't sufficient and I try different methods. The longer I spend with a student, the easier it is for me to explain things 'their' way the first time.
PASS taught me the benefits for students in teaching them how to teach themselves; encouraging them to find their own answers and research is very rewarding (and is essential for older students preparing for university).
I am a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Arts in English & Creative Writing and Performing Arts.
I was a Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) Leader at UniSA for the duration of my degree.
I have editing and creative writing experience during my degree. I have excellent attention to detail and a firm grasp on gammar, punctuation and comprehension.
I completed the Cambridge University Summer School Literature Program int he UK (2017).
My career background is based in the Tourism industry where I have worked as a travel arranger, event coordinator and product and marketing coordinator. All of these roles involved extensive written communication and training, which has lead me to my new career goal of teaching English.
