Being a young individual myself, I am able to easily connect with younger students, and also have experience in childcare and youth work. In saying this however, I do not exclude mature age students from my tutelage, and am comfortable and confident in conversing with older pupils. To begin with, lessons are targeted toward assessing individual ability and progress, focusing on technique and "clarinet etiquette" as well as basic theory and aural skills. I believe in a comfortable, safe environment where students are able to develop and grow to the best of their ability with constructive approaches to fixing technique and developing a love for music. I do not believe in direct criticism or deflation of self-confidence.
I have played the clarinet for 10 years and would love to share my knowledge and passion for music. I recently completed ATAR music performance and, having scored highly, am available for guidance to anyone looking to undertake ATAR music (although not necessarily exclusively), contributing to areas such as theory and aural as well as clarinet tutelage. Having studied under the brilliant clarinetist, Ashley Smith, I believe I can offer a high level of tutelage and have an understanding of the different types of learning methods of different individuals. I also believe in engaging in fun and creative methods of learning as well as developing deep appreciation for different types of music. I am also available to tutor individuals looking to advance their orchestral and/or ensemble skills including sight reading and playing as part of a larger group and conquering a fear of performance.
