I primarily lead shamatha, otherwise known as calm abiding meditation, which is based on a solid foundation of being at ease. It typically involves placing the mind on the sensations of the body and/or the breath to develop a greater and greater sense of relaxation, stability and clarity. This is an essential and foundational practice which can then act as a support for other meditation practices and techniques if one wishes.
My approach is very gentle and designed to give first time meditators a taste of this meditation technique. I ensure everyone is comfortable and at ease and prefer multiple shorter sessions rather than one long session.
Group sessions are more than welcome as I find they can be even more beneficial for the individuals.
I have a passion for taking the mysticism out of meditation and making it clear and accessible for anyone who's interested. I have been studying and practising meditation techniques for close to ten years, primarily in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
- Studied Tibetan Buddhist presentation of the mind and meditation techniques, designed to transform the mind to become more wise and compassionate.
- Undertaken a number of study and meditation retreats of up to two months in duration.
- Lead one and two day group meditation workshops.
