I primarily gear my lessons towards those who are willing to learn and practice. However my course would depend on the desired genres which the student is wishing to learn.
For more classical/jazz/blues related genres I would mostly encourage sight-reading practice in addition to genre-specific techniques such as finger picking, complex chords, non-conventional time signatures, etc. Also a heavy focus on major, minor and pentatonic scale variations to encourage improvisation.
For genres with more distortion such as rock/metal, I would focus on tab-reading and focusing on tremolo picking, sweep picking, hammerons & pulloffs as well as other general electric guitar sounds such has pinch harmonics, dives and harmonics. These would likely be taught through the practice of songs which the student would like to learn, as well as personal recommendations which would include these techniques.
I believe anyone is capable of learning this fantastic instrument, as long as they have the drive to stick with it and practice good habits and techniques.
I'm a QUT Computer Science student who's been composing, producing, performing music for around 7 years in my spare time and also studied music until graduation of high school. I've been taught by jazz, blues and classical teachers previously and personally love rock/metal. I've been running a YouTube channel and SoundCloud for a few years as well. I've taught multiple friends and acquaintances who were willing to learn.
I believe $30 is a fair price for beginners/intermediate players. Once a lesson pack has been purchased, I don't believe I will be able to give refunds as this would exploit the discount system for others.
