Qualified Primary educator with Post graduate and Masters qualifications to focus on early literacy, Perth.

Methodology

Lessons are fun and age appropriate for the individual student or small group.
My approach is focused on research based explicit instruction in literacy and numeracy including synthetic phonics instruction for lower primary and remedial work for upper primary years or English second language.
I can conduct lessons 45 minutes and 1.5 hours depending of level of engagement, availability and needs of the individual student.
I provide my own resources and can work with students on their own focus areas as covered in their own school curriculum program.

Background

I am a passionate, motivated educator with experience in teaching year levels 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. I acknowledge the importance of explicit instruction as an effective teaching method for students to establish a strong foundation of skill sets particularly in literacy and numeracy. In all subject areas, I practice the gradual release of responsibility approach to instruction and achieve this through crafting lessons that are purposeful, relevant and clearly defined. I adopt a range of teaching strategies incorporating individual and group work, whole class discussion and play to deliver rich tasks in meaningful contexts. I effectively manage students by providing positive reinforcement, engaging learning experiences and implementing logical consequences. My role as an educator adheres to the AITSL standards as developed by the Australian Curriculum so to provide highest quality learning outcome for all students. Furthermore, I hold particular interest in working with students who have learning difficulties and disabilities and strive to create meaningful relationships with all my students.
