My teaching method is one-on-one, giving confidence, support and encouragement in privacy. The reading skills and practical are incorporated together in the lessons, enabling students to realise that, by daily practice at home, being able to play the piano is very achievable and enjoyable. A practice plan is written out each lesson based on the individual student's progress. Preparation for all AMEB exams is optional if desired.
I have been teaching piano since 1970. I am a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and accredited as a piano teacher. I also have taught music education in schools, both secondary and primary. My particular area of interest is in adults who have always wanted to learn to play the piano and read music, but for some reason have missed out on the opportunity. There is no age limit for learning to play a musical instrument!
Piano lessons are generally given for half an hour unless the student requires an hour for higher grades or preparation for an examination, therefore the average lesson is charged at $30 for half an hour. Travelling costs can to be negotiated depending on distance.
