Acting Teaching Methodology
Christina teaches method acting skills (based on Stanislavasky and Meisner acting techniques).
Helping students to bypass their own mental mind blocks and becoming more “present” and “in the moment” – in other words, learning to trust in their native feeling state, rather than the rigidity of the mind.
Voice Work, is also a very important part of Christina’s work with actors, as without a strong vocal awareness, the actor is extremely limited in their expression.
Her vocal work is based around Cicely Berry’s “freeing the natural voice” and she is also able to use her extensive singing vocal training, (Seth Riggs speech level singing practise), if students require voice training at that particular level.
Movement and bodywork is a holistic blend of Alexander and mind/body awareness techniques.
The emphasis is on focus into the muscle, through breathing and becoming aware of one’s own idiosyncratic “postural holding patterns”.
Awareness is key.
All work is taught in a spirit of playfulness, without harsh judgement or criticism.
In fact, one of the most important skills an actor can learn involves healthy self-assessment.
This is also addressed as a key component of all classes.
Ensemble work is of course, constantly emphasised-
Christina began her career in the arts scene after graduating with an acting diploma from The National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1986, going on to play featured roles in a number of Australian mini series, television and film projects.
She then became interested in singing and studied for a time with the well-known vocal tutor Jack White, who trained a number of international stars such as Olivia Newton John, Helen Reddy and John Farnham.
Christina taught Voice Activation classes for over a decade, both in Brisbane and on Mt Glorious and also received two arts grants to record her own original music, which she toured nationally.
She staged her own one-woman show, Global Garbage at Metro Arts in 2007, (producing directing and writing, as well as providing the music track), which was successful and well critiqued by international visitors.
In 2011, Christina began work on her novel Pretty Little Voices, using her time as a singing tutor on Mt Glorious to provide the backdrop to a thought provoking tale about a modern young woman living a life between the city of Brisbane and the beauty of a mountain rainforest.
In 2014 Christina received an RADF grant to finish editing and has now published her work.
In 2015 Christina performed at Brisbane’s Anywhere Festival as “Ana “in Dario Fo’s, The Virtuous Burglar.
Christina is continuing to develop her potential as a performing artist and is currently devising a one woman show.

Voice Activation blends “speech level “technique (Seth Riggs) with Alexander principles (posture work) as well as using the basic method acting approach, giving a more holistic approach to developing vocal potential.
From 2000-2002, Christina also contributed a monthly article “Singing and the City”) for RAVE magazine, which was well received by the Brisbane music scene.

Most recently, Christina appeared in Dario Fo’s The Virtuous Burglar at Brisbane’s Anywhere Festival 2016.
Christina is currently producing her one –woman comedy act, The Super Special Cindy C Talkshow.
I would HIGHLY recommend Christina as an acting/voice coach.
I first started training with her primarily to fix some annoying speech patterns while still in high school.
I later continued with acting and learned SO MUCH about the craft.
I overcame a lot of my fears surrounding showing emotion and my cold reading ability improved incredibly.
She's fun to work with !
