I'm a recent graduate of Suzanne Cory High School and I've maintained a 93% average for both Year 11 and Year 12. My lessons will include regular worksheets and notes to solidify concepts. To ensure you are prepared for your SACS and the exams, I have prepared planned lessons for 40 weeks which will greatly help you achieve a high study score for the subject.
My teaching method is very patient but critical. I will provide personal resources in order to help you familiarise yourself with the subject and to confidently prepare you for assessments. These resources include summary notes, practice questions and sample essays.
I am currently tutoring VCE students for both English and Economics. For each area of study I focus on the content for the first few weeks, before focusing on specific sac and exam questions, techniques, skills and tips for preparation.
My teaching philosophy is a critical and personal understanding of the text will guarantee improved marks. Lessons will not only engage with texts, your values and how you perceive the world.
My lessons are for anyone who wants to learn and improve their English speaking, reading, writing skills. I have a friendly demeanour and am patient with my students. I want to see that they perform well and I work hard to acheive that.
I follow the VCAA Victorian Curriculum framework to structure my lessons (just like your school teacher!). I aim to make lessons fun and engaging through various pedagogical teaching methods such as discussion, modelled learning and group work (if applicable). I am more than happy to tailor lessons to best suit your learning style (such as visual learning, ICT) if at all possible.
I base my classes on YOU. All methods I devise are based on where you need help. I also know that the best way for the majority to learn is to have practical applications. That is, not sitting down and filling out a sheet, but discussing the issues and how we can improve them. Most of my learning tasks have some form of practical task.
I tutor according to your needs, moving at a comfortable pace and covering as many concepts as I can. I focus on clarity and simplicity, and need my students to be self-motivated and have the initiative to want to improve themselves.
I like to believe that anything that is to be taught or learnt, has to be done slowly. I like to teach and read along or study along with the student aloud and slow. The method I believe to be the simplest and easiest way to teach and learn is to understand the concept through questions and as a story.
I base my teaching around the Australian Curriculum and current practices implemented in primary schools, such as the inquiry based approach to learning. I am passionate about teaching students to really imbed and gain a deep understanding of relevant content as opposed to simply regurgitating memorised fact.
I am a confident, kind, sensitive, earnest and enthusiastic communicator who is able to disseminate and make complex concepts clear and comprehensible.
English is highly subjective, and requires development of ideas and opinions rather than clear-cut answers. For this reason, my objective is to empower students to think through and present their ideas with confidence and clarity.
My teaching method involves working around an individual's focus. I usually get the student to give me an idea of their understanding or interpretation of a work and I help build on that with my knowledge and what is required from the course content.
I specialise in Essay writing (particularly for high school) and general grammar editing of any written work. I excel at writing and achieved 100% in all my Year 12 assessments by learning a few simple ways to write and structure an essay effectively.
I am a very patient teacher who can work with a range of ages (from primary to high school). I'm aware every child learns differently so i will often focus on how to best teach a child based on how they learn.
My mantra is: make every topic relevant to the student's life and interest. The reason I love language class is that you can customise any learning experience to make it relevant to your own interests. For example, if in my academic English class we were learning about referencing, I could ask a student to bring their favourite book or newspaper.
I believe in helping students understand the ideas and principles behind what they are learning on a conceptual basis rather than relying on rote memorization. Ultimately the goal of tuition is to develop students who are capable and independent learners.
I'm able to adapt my lessons to students from all educational levels, from F's to A+'s, by individually tailoring them to each student's needs. I understand the different ways students learn, and hope to be able to use this understanding to help each and every student understand their content seamlessly.
I endeavour to empower students by helping them cultivate confidence in their life-long learning abilities. I adopt a personalised approached to tuition, infused with patience, positivity and compassion. Given my multidisciplinary background, I strongly believe in the importance of learning to think, write and communicate creatively and critically.
I base my classes around open ended questions that can lead to discussion and in turn critical analysis. I feel that the best way to learn and improve is to discuss first, create a plan with objectives and goals, and then seek to improve through further study.
I successfully achieved participation by utilising creativity and incorporating a ‘real life’ connection into the classroom to gain and maintain students’ interests and encourage self-expression. I incorporate exciting thematic units to encourage student engagement and foster a fun and active learning environment that enable students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
I begin with the premise that ALL students have what it takes to achieve their academic goals. Completing a Masters in Education (Inclusive Learning) has given me the tools to meet the learning needs of all of my students. Our sessions will be informative, fun and creative.
I am quite passionate about sharing my knowledge, and not just teaching kids, but mentoring them during their course of study. The first lesson would include understanding the needs of a student, his/her interests, core understanding of the topic, points of weakness and method of studying. A study plan is drawn, and an end goal is decided.
My teaching method is based around using multiple form of communication, such as oral or visual in order to facilitate understanding. I am personable and excited about learning, engaging in ethical pedagogical and epistemological systems, such as prioritising perspectives of Indigenous and people of colour's research.
My teaching method revolves around the development of three crucial skills. 1. Close examination of the text. (This skill dictates the quality of your response). 2. Construction/Structure. (Ensuring arguments are presented logically and appropriately). 3. Expression (Finer details such as spelling, grammar, vocabulary and fluidity.
My teaching method revolves mainly around what the student is struggling with and what can be improved upon. I would structure classes around building upon practice exams or actual exams undertaken by the student and finding out what can be improved upon, largely looking at sentence structure and the use of language.
First and foremost, I like to cater my lessons towards the individual student. Everyone learns differently, so I always try my best to work at a pace that I believe will provide my students with the best results. As an English tutor, I do like to provide students with different vocabulary words each session, so they can continue to develop their ability to express thoughts and ideas.
My teaching style puts the pupil first at all times. Whilst I ensure that all core skills are being addressed each lesson (understanding, reading, application, writing) the means to which this is achieved is through an understanding of what the pupil enjoys rather than a predetermined pathway that is used for everyone. Located in Camberwell, I can teach from my own home or from a student's home.
I adapt my teaching approach to the needs of my students. It is my belief that workshoping essays is the most effective way to ensure a student's comprehension of a literary text, but it ultimately depends on the needs of the student - often, analysing passages together is just as effective.
I am able to explain the complex concepts in an effective and understandable manner with the help of examples and illustrations. I understand the need of students with variable stage of competency. Before starting tutoring, I prefer to have five minutes chat with students to know that how much they understand the subject.
