My classes are characterized by active learning and enjoyment. All lessons include feedback and scaffolding to build deep understanding and successful skills as well as a positive learning disposition. My goal is to help students identify their own goals and develop the necessary strategies to reach this goal.
The first lesson will include an initial assessment to evaluate your knowledge of written and spoken English. I will then prepare a teaching curriculum based on your learning aims and the time we have allocated for the classes. From my experience, teaching/learning grammar in parallel with building vocabulary is the best way to grasp a foreign language.
I base my classes on the students I have and their needs. I want to ensure that my students get what they need from me from each lesson. I am open to any and all questions and will go at the pace you need to feel that you understand the concepts. I speak clearly and use simple language until students are comfortable and feel ready to move up.
My teaching method is friendly and fun! I am not set in any teaching plan - we will find what method suits you best and use that to help you improve. For school settings, I will read through the task sheet and marking rubric to fully understand what your teacher wants before using this to aid in my tutoring.
I believe that reading & writing are essential to understanding the complex English language. I think writing about topics you love sparks the fire so I would keep the lessons interesting & fun based on the interests of each individual regardless of age.
I firmly believe that a thorough needs analysis is the basis for developing individual teaching programmes to address learning needs. People are individuals and not everybody has the same learning styles and preferences, therefore the same program won't necessarily fit every student. In my experience students are motivated to be successful if they have a say in what and how they are learning.
I have a very flexible teaching method, that evolves to meet the student's need. In the beginning, I like to discuss what goals the student wants to acheive, and explore their general learning style. In general, I like to be interactive, and bring in daily life imagery to help consolidate their understanding of more complex issues.
My teaching method is based on interactive and engaging lessons between students and the instructor. I am always interested in what the student is thinking and feeling by eliciting responses based on the participant's interests and experiences.
I understand how a pupil's self esteem can fall and motivation to learn can diminish, when difficulties are experienced. This is overcome by allowing a child to achieve success and ultimately empower a pupil to learn independently. Lessons are prepared around the individual's difficulties being experienced and include activities which are varied and enjoyable.
I base my classes on experiencing the language in different ways - reading, writing, speaking, listening. I try to do so in creative and fun ways. I can help with anything from classwork, general language studies, written work, or preparation for a specific event and/or project.
So I prefer teaching to individuals because I feel this gives the student a more personal approach to learning. I focus on all kinds of students, so your background or your skill level does not faze me; I'm happy to help whomever.
I am passionate about teaching and working with children and youth. I believe in making lessons a two-way interaction and giving my students as many opportunities as possible to contribute to their own learning. At the same time, I also prefer a systematic approach towards learning and will plan my lesson according to the student's needs.
I use a communicative language teaching method. When teaching GE (and all the skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking and pronunciation) I try to make the classes and materials as interactive as possible so that students are not only learning from me but also from each other.
I began tutoring in 2012. I base my classes on student's current English proficiency level. I aim to help my students strengthen and revise their fundamental language skills, grammar, vocabulary etc. To prepare for IELTS, past exam papers will be a necessary practice.
My teaching method involves understanding the student and what he or she wants out of studying this subject (i.e good grades, a better understanding of the subject etc.) My lessons often include me checking on the weekly tasks I set (often quite small yet effective). After this, I go through the content with the student and work with them to see where they can improve their work.
My teaching methodology uses total physical response learning, using items of personal and cultural relevance, using authentic materials in the classroom such as visuals and teaching props including flash cards, videos and audio (songs and music), encouraging student participation using projects, group work and roleplays, and following student progress through the 5 stages of language acquisition.
I would like to approach topics based on a student's capabilities, although normally I would go for teaching him/her the concepts, giving practice tests, and then reviewing his/her answers. However, I am willing to adjust to better cater my student's needs.
I'm a Singaporean who graduated with a journalism degree from QUT, and a diploma for creative writing and new media at Singapore Polytechnic. I've always coached my classmates and helped them with their English assignments, and they've improved with leaps and bounds. I'm able to teach all forms of English, be it basic, intermediate, or in any varied art form or expression.
I encourage exploration and fun while learning. It's also important to know the basics, then you can build your appreciation and understanding at the same time. I have a love of the English language, and I try to instill that same feeling in my lessons.
Hi. My name is Claire and I am currently a second year Law and Business Student at QUT. As a tutor, I will provide you with personalised lessons that are tailored to help you improve your grades in English.
My teaching method is to suit the lesson and content around the individual student's academic ability/needs. My initial aim of the lesson will be to get to know the student and what they enjoy, dislike, or struggle with. I aim to know their favourite way to learn and to build my lesson around that.
Depending on the level required I tailor classes to suit each individual, from basic reading and comprehension to more advanced writing and critical analysis. Oral expression is the key to success. Different learning methods will be used depending your learning style and ability. I am patient and creative, able motivate students to achieve their goals.
I am a friendly but straight to the point kind of person. Typically my first lesson is spent learning more about the students strengths and weaknesses in regards to the subject. Essentially, what kind of help they require so I can optimise our time spent together. From here we set a goal and work towards achieving it.
I am an English citizen. Fluentcy in the English language is critical in a world where the English language is the international language in business, academic studies, in the workforce, and desirable for emigration, college and university entry.
I will tailor lessons to suit your needs and help you progress. You will get lots of encouragement, resources and some homework that will help you improve your English between lessons. Our lessons will be good fun, and definitely interactive, as I don't like to be bored! It's all about you! My aim is to help you be confident and gain knowledge at a pace that suits you.
I am a 19 year old Canadian university student studying to become an English teacher. I am geared towards younger students who need help with English- reading, spelling, speaking, etc. I will introduce the lesson material in a creative way in order to make learning as fun as possible. I believe students learn better when they are having fun at the same time.
I am a full-time uni student currently studying a Bachelor of Creative & Interactive Media, looking to tutor students that are seeking help with the English language, as well as additional help with both pronunciation and comprehension.
My name is Kayla and I am currently entering my third year of university. I enjoyed high school English, Ancient History, Study of Religion and Biology. I would be more than happy to help with these subjects! I enjoy proof reading and I would be more than happy to share study tips and essay structures.
My teaching methods vary depending on the needs of the student. I can offer help for school subjects, for grammar or for those wishing to brush up/extend their knowledge within a particular topic. I will work towards giving my students the best understanding of their topics.
I try to grasp my students' current standing with their subject, to fully empathise with whatever difficulties they may be facing. I then create meticulously planned personalised exercises to help with the particular issue, and then help students connect it with the broader scope of the subject so that they have a full understanding. I also believe that practice makes perfect...
