I firmly believe in the idea that it's important to teach how to arrive at a solution/method/answer than just providing the answer itself. This means teaching concepts and English rules at its root instead of learning by exposure to example. Usually I find such examples through papers and texts written by students for various subjects but teaching on a general level is also possible.
I provide online classes and I try to make them as engaging as possible, but unique to each student. I enjoy playing games and providing various resources or role play scenarios for my language classes. But I also appreciate the value of throughly combing through written work and encouraging students to learn to identify and fix their own mistakes.
I have a deep passion for making real differences in the lives of my students and their learning journey through laser-focused instruction, my watchful eye and customised expertise to benefit students directly and witness their sparks of comprehension; equipping them with critical study skills to become independent lovers of learning.
My teaching philosophy is based on fast-paced, engaging, and communicative practical activities, which force students to think quickly under pressure and help them got over fear and shyness - for me, the most important aspect of acquiring a new language is fluency of expression, daring to speak even if we make mistakes.
Depending on the skill level of the student I will structure the lesson accordingly. An example of this is with my primary student, we start the lesson reading news articles that are relevant to his work, then move onto topics of conversation and we set and discuss a homework task, outlining what is required and how to move forward. I test his skillset periodically.
I like to let my students guide the lesson. I will come prepared for anything within their syllabus however, they are the one who know what they need more assistance on so will answer their questions and ask if they have any questions. I also ask for any practice exams or quizes so I can come with prepared answers.
I believe in learner-centred method and getting to know my students well. Together we will discover your learning style and I will guide you in finding effective strategies to study English. Maybe you look for just improving your speaking, or you want to write a great essay or give a perfect presentation. You are in the right place.
I tutor mostly high school and university students but am open to tutoring younger kids as well. My style of tutoring will depend on you... what do you need help with? What can I show YOU? I will tailor each lesson to your needs and wants, no two lessons are the same. You will be learning in a safe, comfortable space.
I believe that the lesson should be tailored to the students' interests and abilities, keeping the content relevant to their lives to maintain focus and using engaging experiences combined with their natural strengths to challenge them to grow with less focus on the result and more focus on the process of learning (e.g. game of charades to guess what word is being acted).
If you're at 5.0 or 5.5, and you need to get 6.0 and above, I can teach you how. If you're at 6.0 and above, I will show you why, and help you to correct to score higher. Firstly, we will discuss your needs, and assess your current levels for the speaking/writing tests, using the public band descriptors to determine WHY you would get your scores - you NEED to know why before you can fix.
I believe that reading & writing are essential to understanding the complex English language. I think writing about topics you love sparks the fire so I would keep the lessons interesting & fun based on the interests of each individual regardless of age.
My teaching method is based on interactive and engaging lessons between students and the instructor. I am always interested in what the student is thinking and feeling by eliciting responses based on the participant's interests and experiences.
My teaching method involves understanding the student and what he or she wants out of studying this subject (i.e good grades, a better understanding of the subject etc.) My lessons often include me checking on the weekly tasks I set (often quite small yet effective). After this, I go through the content with the student and work with them to see where they can improve their work.
I would like to approach topics based on a student's capabilities, although normally I would go for teaching him/her the concepts, giving practice tests, and then reviewing his/her answers. However, I am willing to adjust to better cater my student's needs.
I'm a Singaporean who graduated with a journalism degree from QUT, and a diploma for creative writing and new media at Singapore Polytechnic. I've always coached my classmates and helped them with their English assignments, and they've improved with leaps and bounds. I'm able to teach all forms of English, be it basic, intermediate, or in any varied art form or expression.
I encourage exploration and fun while learning. It's also important to know the basics, then you can build your appreciation and understanding at the same time. I have a love of the English language, and I try to instill that same feeling in my lessons.
My teaching method varies depending on type of students I have. Most of them tend to come in preparation for Ielts or oral comprehension. I feel studying a language takes a lot of time and dedication and so its very important to be patient with the student, as every student's grasping power varies.
My teaching method is to suit the lesson and content around the individual student's academic ability/needs. My initial aim of the lesson will be to get to know the student and what they enjoy, dislike, or struggle with. I aim to know their favourite way to learn and to build my lesson around that.
I am a friendly but straight to the point kind of person. Typically my first lesson is spent learning more about the students strengths and weaknesses in regards to the subject. Essentially, what kind of help they require so I can optimise our time spent together. From here we set a goal and work towards achieving it.
I will tailor lessons to suit your needs and help you progress. You will get lots of encouragement, resources and some homework that will help you improve your English between lessons. Our lessons will be good fun, and definitely interactive, as I don't like to be bored! It's all about you! My aim is to help you be confident and gain knowledge at a pace that suits you.
I am a 19 year old Canadian university student studying to become an English teacher. I am geared towards younger students who need help with English- reading, spelling, speaking, etc. I will introduce the lesson material in a creative way in order to make learning as fun as possible. I believe students learn better when they are having fun at the same time.
My name is Kayla and I am currently entering my third year of university. I enjoyed high school English, Ancient History, Study of Religion and Biology. I would be more than happy to help with these subjects! I enjoy proof reading and I would be more than happy to share study tips and essay structures.
I am student focused. I try to use different mediums and strategies to assist with student learning. I use movement, activities, sound, music, visual cues in my teaching regiment together with group and pair work, classroom discussions, practical exercises beginning with the student's common and everyday experiences to build new information and knowledge. I do this in a fun and interesting way.
We will first assess your needs, your communication written, oral and comprehensive. We will find a way to learn which will be fun and engaging. I will put you at ease - you will feel understood and supported my be.
I like to base lessons around a plan and find that it's beneficial to have both short and long term goals. For example, a long term goal may be to become more proficient in writing clear and coherent texts/essays. A short term goal for one or two lessons, which would contribute to the success of the long term goal, would be to focus on developing vocabulary.
My teaching method is inclusive of: High interactive short activities where I provide a teacher demonstration followed by student interaction. I am mainly hands on with my teaching practice getting students to actively put into practice what they learn in class by way of role play and demonstration.
Lessons are aimed at students of all levels, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. As I come from an anthropology background, I teach English in the context of enculturation (cultural acquisition). I believe that language and culture cannot be separated and so all lessons will reflect on culture as well.
I believe the best way to get my students to learn is through active learning. I ensure that my students should be engaged in what they are being taught through discovery learning and practical application. My typical lesson structure would be: 1. Hook - this will be a stimulus to excite the student, such as a picture, video, quote, question, true or false statement.
I base my classes on the needs of my students. Certain adjustments can be made to make learning more fun, pro-active and personalized to the learning capacity and learning requirements of each individual. Each student will be given focus and importance during the learning experience.
My teaching method involves hands-on activities including freestyle writing sessions, oral communication techniques and reading exercises. Then I prefer to individually walk through any areas of improvements with students to provide beneficial and critical feedback to enhance their skills.
