I follow the contemporary/traditional AMEB or the Suzuki approach depending on the student's needs. For advanced students, I incorporate Sevcik's bowing, fingering, shifting and rhythmic exercises. Every lesson also includes inspirational words for the benefit of the students' character-development, e.g. developing thankfulness as a daily constitution.
My teaching method is supportive of all students. I base my classes of any necessary needs the students will have. I approach a topic by asking questions to see what the students know and what needs developing to help them to succeed to the best of their ability.
The kind of students my lessons are geared towards is those violin beginners. My lessons would be basic and easy to understand. First step is getting to know those notes and after that is the scales. Afterwards is some practice songs.
I am very patient when it comes to teaching music to students, I always take baby steps in order to make the student feel confident learning the instrument and have the clear mindset to learn and practice.

I teach individuals and groups of ten to learn pitch rhythm dynamics and composition for performance and exams through ANZCA Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts. My teaching method is based on the Kodaly and Colour Code for beginners and advances to Suzuki concepts of technique enhanced with student's personal flare.
I believe reading and technique are important. If these areas are not neglected in the early stages students are better able to explore a range of styles and genres, including improvisation, in a self directing manner.

The methodology that I use to teach, depends on how many people are going to be inside the room. If it is just one (what I recommend) I have to see if this person has some experience in music or if it is the first time. Also, if the person wants to learn just for fun, or if needs my help to do some audition, for school or orchestra.
Having learnt the violin for most of my life, I know how challenging (and rewarding) studying music can be. Sometimes you just need it explained differently or someone to show you, which is where I would like to help.

My aproach to teaching strings is to help by playing along and giving harder pieces throughout time. I am nice but strict. Kids do not like having heaps of stress layering on top and giving small bits time to time does get their learning to improve much faster than just forcing all the knowledge into them.
