My teaching methodology is to show abstract problems in a practical hands on method.
I believe in working with students to help them achieve their best, using a Constructivist approach. This means I allow the students to attempt and show their working, before intervening and showing how I would tackle the problem. I encourage students to bring in their own workbooks, showing what they are up to currently, and working through their current issues with their work.
I prefer direct face to face or online mode I teach with number of examples, where students can easily understand Asking feedback from the students to check whether they understood what I taught
I believe that students learn mathematics by doing, not just by reading or watching. So, they need time to practice concepts with examples (often real life).
I have completed a training and assessing, communications and negotiation and influencing courses. I continue to believe that good results at school have everything to do with the teacher and so communication becomes imperative in understanding content and hence good results.
As a student, what i have experienced is...it is very important to understand a subject from the elemental level, so that you eventually start loving the subject as you hold a very strong base in it.My methodology is the same, I teach from the fundamental level so that it helps the students to understand the subject very clearly.
I will endeavour to make my lessons fun and incorporate visual and interactive ways of learning to help ideas stick, I will also try to always highlight why it is important to know what we are learning, I hope my students will feel a high level of self confidence and feel that I was not teaching them but giving them the ability to teach themselves!
I am new to tutoring, but I have been lucky enough to work with students in a classroom setting on several occasions during my Masters of Counselling placement, helping Year 7 with maths.
