My approach is a practical way to teach. My classes will involve theory, practical and reading writing assignments. I like to start my classes with a little theory. Then take the class outside and go experience the day, while learning the specific things you need to know to communicate and interact with your surroundings.
My teaching methodology is adapted to the student's requirements/needs and classes are usually planned to last for 1.5 hours. The content and methodology will be discussed with the student, but overall, it includes: Exercise sheets. Youtube video analyses. Homework as per student's availability. Presentations. One-o-one conversation sessions. Grammar fundamentals.
Since Spanish is my main language I believe it is important to begin knowing the vocabulary used daily, the pronunciation to develop your oral and reading comprehension, and then include the basic grammar rules and the variations of the language depending on the country.
I base my classes on the communicative approach which consists on students producing and understanding the language (4 skills) rather than focusing only in grammar.
I base my classes on the student's needs. I'm very flexible on my teaching methods and I adapt my style according to what is useful for the student.
My name is Tomas Tanco, I'm 26 years old, and I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have a BA in Business Administration, and I came to Gold Coast, Australia, to study Golf Management. I went to a bilingual school where I had English lessons in the morning and Spanish one in the afternoons.
-Fun teacher with 3+ years of experience in language teaching. -Every lesson will contain some information at the very beginning, and then just practice. -You only learn by practice, that is why my classes are carried out in a way in which you only care about using the language.
I like to make a really dynamic and fluent class. I believe that the best way to learn is actually talking. Of course the basic grammar is important... but let face it... we only want to talk in Spanish.
The teaching method depends on the level and the aim that the students have. As per my experience learning other languages (english, german, french...) the key of knowledge is make it fun it gets easier for the brain to retain. The purpose is to be able to explain yourself in daily environments.
I base my lessons in the comprention of words and the sound of the words as well i focus in the movement of the mouth and the sounds we can reproduce, and i try as possible for my students to modify thier sounds and the way they move their tongs to produce this new sounds.
Depending on what you want to learn I would prepare the lessons in different ways. If you want to speak we could just take a coffe and speak (telling you the mistakes that you made). If you want to learn how to write, first of all I will need to know your spanish level and then I would prepare different materials.
My methodology is based in learning expressions that you use in a normal day that allows you to comunicate with everyone .I'll give you all Vocabulary and usual verbs that will allow you to ask about your needs and also have an easy conversation with Spanish speakers.
Throughout the 4 years I have been giving tutoring lessons, I have discovered that the key element is communication. Sometimes the student does not feel confident to express the questions he/she has in the classroom, hence affecting his/her overall performance.
I always use all sort of AID's to have more interactive and customized learning methodologies.
My method consists in finding topics of conversation that might be useful for the traveler, eg: read menus ask for basic needs, tourist information etc., making the conversation relaxed and easier for who wish to learn. I use visual material to support the lessons to enhance vocabulary. Lessons are tailored to the needs of the student.
I prefer to teach in a relaxed environment like cafes or in the city. Conversational most of the time but then with sessions concentrated on the students areas where they want to improve. I feel the best way to learn is for the student to TALK, so my classes will hopefully have the student talking the majority of the time :)...
My teaching method is very flexible and tailored to each student's needs as I believe the best way to learn a new language is to relate it to topics and situations the student is most interested in rather than spending hours on a grammar rule on a book. Of course grammar is necessary but I think it can be made fun and easy by applying to what you are most passionate about.
My teaching method is a combination of what is usually implemented in schools with a dynamic approach to the different topic of each subject.
Each student learn in different ways, so I will approach each person according to their level and preferences, I am a dynamic person and I am convinced that learning a language can't be boring. I love to show my international students the diversity that you could find in Latin America and I try to involve them in different activities with native speakers.
I like a to work in a fun and dynamic way to make learning easy and not tough as if you were in the school. We will focus on Vocabulary which is the basis of every language and Listening for the beginners, and Grammar, Reading and Speaking for those with prior knowledge.
Since I have been in different universities and have received different approaches of teaching, I expect to first understand what your interest is over what you are going to learn with me. I think the basics for me will be understanding what motivates you to study. I am open to giving classes in different places, or at home if you are more comfortable.
I believe that the best way to learn a language is by practicing it, that is the reason I like to approach it in a conversational way, focusing on listening and speaking, but always keeping in mind reading and writing. I am a very patient teacher and I encourage all of my students to give their best while having a good time.
