During my first lesson, I will focus on asking my student about their personal interests and areas of strength/ need. We will use this information to set growth goals. Ex: In the next 4 weeks I will be able to add within 120 by playing math board games twice a week for 1 hour.
I try to utilise a guided discovery teaching approach when structuring my lessons. With this approach, I am able to provide my students with basic content or information pertaining to the topic at hand, however, it is up to them to interpret and form their own understanding or conclusions. I will continually support students through this process, but the emphasis is on the student.
I am currently studying at UQ in the Master of Commerce program with specialization in professional accounting. Through out my academic journey I have always shown great enthusiasm and results as the end defines all. I have assisted junior level school students to university students from with subjects from maths,English, physics, chemistry to accounting and financial analysis.
I approach each subject differently, depending on the requirements. If the subject has a laid out lesson plan, I will teach according to with topic they are learning in school. If the subject does not have a laid out lesson plan, I will see which aspect of the subject the kid is weak at, and focus on strengthening them at that area.
My classes are based on first of all enjoying the subject matter and then getting the most out of the subject. Whether it is dance, yoga, music, art or meditation the philosophy is the same, what is the most enjoyment and fulfillment the student can get out of the subject according to their capabilities and expectations.

I believe that academic concepts are best learned when they are contextualised to suit individual needs and will aim to present knowledge in such a way that is suited to the student and their learning needs/preferences.
