My teaching style is very student centred. I cater to the student's learning styles and interests. I also strongly believe in differentiation and can offer approaches that incorporate the latest findings in education theory and practice. With the right encouragement and approach, everyone can achieve their goals.
My teaching methodology is firm, but gentle. I believe in reformative practices, and continuous reporting. I value a growth mindset.
I am to stem my lessons from what the teachers have students working on, or areas that a particular student needs a bit of added help. I am happy to assist in research, writing essays or other assignments, and editing essays (for English and History specifically, but I may also be able to assist in other subjects).
At the risk of getting too zen-monk on you here: "In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities and in the expert’s mind, there are few." [Shunryu Suzuki]. I encourage and uplift the beginners mind in all my students - thereby teaching them how to learn anything, adapt to changing circumstances and build resilience for a big, full life.
I work best with children up to year 12 and young adults assisting with resumes and cover letters. I will listen to the childs problems with learning and work around what they are having issues with. I work with creating a new way for them to retain the information.
I like to use the socratic method of finding answers. I work with students to find out what they need, and the best way to get there. I understand that everybody has different needs and learns differently and I tailor my approach accordingly.
I like to work with you, pointing out ways of bettering yourself rather than what you are doing wrong.
My teaching method is very personal with the student. I like to discuss what works best for them and what doesn't. To begin with a discussion on how to approach a task enables us to plan for success. The core subjects I am confident in are English, History and Maths. However, I am very happy to discuss any other subjects or tasks.
I base my lessons around the course outline that students bring to me, focussing on a new key aspect every lesson. Depending on the content involved with each concept, the amount of time I will spend explaining and teaching will slightly vary.
I believe that each student is different and so tailor my courses to best suit my students. I think the best way to tackle a problem is to break them down and then set achievable goals. Nothing is impossible when you break things down.
Interactive. Logical. Tailored to student needs. Based on the humanistic educational principles of Dane Nikolaj Frederik Severin Grundtvig.
I am warm, friendly and engaging with a student centered approach to my tutoring. I work to understand the student and their learning style and adapt my tutoring to this. I believe that learning can be enjoyable and aim to ensure my lessons are catering for individual needs not only academically but emotionally.
