My diverse experience has helped me cater for a wide variety of students and students' needs:Teaching General English Skills, Speaking, Conversation skills, literacy to newcomers, Cambridge examinations, Business English, TOEIC.
As a tutor, I believe it is essential to understand the nature and character of the student. It is also important to be able to identify the students learning styles and issues that have previously hindered their understanding. I am a degree qualified teacher of Modern History, English and I am a qualified Counsellor.
I like to base lessons on oral and written expression so the student can make the most of their time spent sitting opposite a native speaker, but I work on a person by person basis according to the individual learner.
As an English teacher, I have worked overseas teaching students of different ages and levels. It was a really enjoyable position for me as I easily built rapport with my students and I am a person who is always ready to help and care about others. I believe that the students have benefited from my lessons as I still receive feedbacks from my former students and their parents.
I believe that we are all different, therefore, we learn in different ways. I like to adapt my lessons based on the students strengths and weaknesses. I like to use a lot of musics, didactic games, interesting readings/words activities.
Lesson wise, the ideal goal is to tailor the lesson to the students needs while remaining fluid or dynamic enough to allow tangential topics to be incorporated as effective tools to enhance learning. Lines of questioning evoke an answer. So by making creative lines of inquiry, the learner is constantly practicing how to think rather than being told what to think.
Hello my name is Anya Howard and I hold a Bachelor of Education and have three years of primary school teaching experience. My English and literacy teaching style mainly is based on the Speech Sound Pics (or SSP) program which helps students to build comprehension, through learning different sound patterns.
Most of my students are adults learners who have specific needs. Some want to improve their conversational skills, grammatical knowledge, vocabulary for work or business and their writing skills. I focus on these needs but do not teach them in isolation. I usually use real world situations and tasks to help them better understand their weaker areas.
I start with focusing on what needs to be accomplished and the students goal. From there, we set up milestones to achieve. Teaching method is combined with visual learning, examples, editing papers and providing detailed feedback as well as suggestions on improvement and substituting words in place of others.
I devise activities that focus on your personal needs, so my teaching strategies vary significantly. I focus on helping you to improve your performance more than "making the lessons fun." I feel that I am more suited to helping teenagers and adults, rather than younger children.
I schedule short quizzes and monthly tests with revisions. Believe in preparing the lecture before delivering. Choose creative ways to help students understand their studies. Engage with parents to provide reports fortnightly. if needed provided extra notes and time to reach the required goal.
I approach my lessons with the following strategies: 1: Interest and explanation – “When our interest is aroused in something, whether it is an academic subject or a hobby, we enjoy working hard at it. We come to feel that we can in some way own it and use it to make sense of the world around us.
I would base my classes off the child having fun whilst still being educated. I would love for the child to be proud of their achievements and for the parents to keep me updated on how their child went. I am a very nurturing person and build relationships with my students. I would also use bright colours and pens to make the work seem more fun.
I am committed to getting each and every student to reach their language learning goals and become competent and confident speakers. Your comprehension and understanding will improve each and every session. I customize classes to fit the needs of the learner. Speaking: discussion, structure and grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, phonics, singing etc.
I base teaching on having fun and keep children alert and making them feel special while they are learning beginner English. Starting off with basics phonics, audio learning over Skype. Classes can range from 4-20 children. Everything is at a pace that each child will be able to keep up with.
I understand that everyone learns differently, hearing, seeing and doing. Therefore based upon how you learn best my approach to teaching is to customise it specially for you and how you learn best. This allows to get the best results.
My outlook towards teaching is based on patience and having a hands-on approach. I believe in using as many relevant examples as required to assist in comprehending a topic.

I am a university student studying a Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours) at The University of Queensland. I graduated from a selective school, Queensland Academy for Health Sciences (QAHS) completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma during which I achieved a maximum grade 7 out of 7 for Mandarin, Business and management, Biology, English and Chemistry.
I like to give students a little bit of fun too during our lessons as it will make them feel more excited and willing to learn. Hence, my classes would usually include singing with lyrics, analysing a movie and others. Once I've figured out their weaknesses, I will base my classes on those topics and areas that the student need to work on.
My class is basically divided into several steps. The first one is the warm up which focuses on vocabulary. The aim of it is to start feeling familiar with new words. Then what follows is the grammar part. A successful class goes up and down for students not to get bored. Games are the up part and the exercises are the down ones. Moreover, videos and songs are key in learning a new language.
I believe learning a language comes with confidence.
