My teaching approach always considers the specific needs and experience of the student. From the basics in music theory and composition to more advanced subjects, I'll always make sure learning is structured and paced appropriately. You'll learn many of the theoretical aspects of theory/composition as well as growing your own unique approach to learning about and writing music.

Individual students deserve individual curriculum for teaching; I feel it is important to have a student first excited and engaged before extensive theory.
I start everyone off playing simple music in a style they are familiar and engaged in to get them comfortable on their instrument, then use their own personal goals and intentions with the instrument to guide their progression.
My lessons teach music theory through practice, skills and technique in order to learn the language of music. I teach music literacy and theory through singing and piano. My lessons are ideal for learning music at an excellent level. You will leave my sessions having not only a well-developed knowledge of theory but singing and piano playing as well.
Trained both musically and in theatrical forms, James Halloran offers piano and vocal lessons with an edge. Holding a bachelors degree in jazz singing, James understands that as a musician, it is just as important to captivate an audience with a performance as it is to have great technique.
I am a teacher who approaches each student differently depending on their goals and requirements. I prefer an environment where the student has a clear idea of what they want to gain out of the lessons so that I can directly address the areas of music theory that they may struggle with.

Over the past 14 years I’ve spent my time performing and writing in bands including The Getaway Plan and The Amity Affliction. I’ve been lucky enough to perform all around Australia, America, Europe and the UK, playing venues ranging from the Brixton Academy in London to Rod Laver Arena here in Melbourne.
I will teach you musical theory that ranges from harmony, scales, intervals, triads, chords with seventh and extensions, as well as voice leading based on classical music and also in contemporary music. But most important, how to read music and write music.
Studying music? Feeling stuck on identifying those tricky intervals or seeing the difference between a Locrian mode to a Dorian mode? My name is Sonja and I am currently studying Music at a tertiary level. I can provide help with high school level musical theory, songwriting and learning songs on electric bass guitar.
I put vocal adequacy and capacity as a priority rather than music theory however, I believe that practicing and refining music theory knowledge aids one's true potential and adds to an individuals vocal and creative talent.
I have always designed my lessons and tutoring programs for the particular student that I am teaching. Each lesson is personalised and aimed at improving not only performance and understanding, but also to encourage students to be focussed and interested in their work.
I curate lessons for individuals because everyone has a different way of learning and growing. And follow up with them on their growth. I wanna share my knowledge with as many as people possible.
My lessons would be geared towards younger students, but I am comfortable teaching people of all ages. Lessons would not only involve learning songs, but learning the techniques and ideas that make the songs, and how to use your voice safely.
Singer/songwriter turned Primary school teacher with 9 years teaching experience, loves to travel and constantly learning, loves different cultures and experiences
The aim of my lessons is to provide students with the techniques required to develop excellent habits, which can always lead to excellent results if practised. For the first few weeks, students will be guided through a healthy vocal warm up to start each lesson, but ideally, in due course they will be able to warm up on their own before the lesson in order to maximise the time we have.
My teaching is based on the needs of the student or class.
I am an open minded male with a conscientious nature. I have taught a range of students: young or old, different ethnicity, male or female, beginners to advanced. My meothodolgy is to cater to different kinds of learners being kinaesthetic, visual and auditory.
I like to base my classes on the way I learned piano when I was younger. No exams, nothing that puts too much pressure on your child as this can take the love of music away from a person.
I mainly teach classically but happy to teach contemporary. I place a strong emphasis on sight reading and ensure my students have good aural skills. I teach from beginner to advanced and have had many successful AMEB students. I really enjoy my job.
I can do introductory lessons for multiple instruments, as well as advanced level music theory and composition lessons, aiming to transfer my personal understanding of music, as well as those commonly accepted, to young students in a patient and focused manner, encouraging independent development of one's own talents and skills.
I strongly believe that music can be for everyone. So whether you are starting from the beginning, further developing your current skills or returning to music after a period of absence, then I’m the teacher for you.
My lessons are driven by music that the student connects with, using scores and/or transcription.
