I base my teaching style on individual student's needs. - few students = quality focus time for both of us - free optional consulting session before the first lesson starts. Usually a friendly conversation to potential students about their needs and what they want to get out of the lessons.
I base all my methods on analysing the students skill and mindset to see what types of techniques are required to learn and keep them focused and motivated with ideas and inspiration that I've experienced over the past 20 years.
My name is Etta McEwan, I have 7 grades of flute under my belt. I attended Hunter School of the Performing Arts and received 97/100 for my HSC Music. I like to start with the basics of reading and technique before starting to tackle pieces of music. My lessons are geared towards beginners not intermediate or expert players.
My teaching method is enjoying the music and playing music. Practice makes perfect. I will base on your level to decide which kind of learning programme fits you.
I take a pragmatic and step by step approach to learning. My teaching style is based on the needs of the student and lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and requirements, regardless of age. I have experience teaching students of all ages, young and old and I am able to adapt my teaching and communication style to suit.
I give practical knowledge that you can always use in your music career. You will learn how to play your favourite songs on guitar, how to make up guitar solos on the spot, and some music theory.
I will get to know the students level of proficiency and how they best learn and plan the lessons from there. I will set homework which is achievable and therefore allows for the student to stay engaged and enjoying the lessons.
My teaching methodology is a combination of holistic singing technique and Traditional Italian bel canto methodology - singing in your self on your breath, letting the breath do everything.
For all beginners, I tend to use a more vivid teaching methodology rather than too much theory. The structure of my class will be students performance and analysis on each piece of music.
I plan and prepare my lessons in advance to cater for individual students needs and examination syllabus, while helping students develop a broader appreciation and understanding of music in a variety of styles through looking at theory, sight-singing, composition and other areas. I do my best to create a positive learning environment for students.
I love music and I love teaching, so what better career then being a music teacher? I've been playing music since I could walk, and believe it's a unique way of expression.
