My teaching approach always considers the specific needs and experience of the student. From the basics in music theory and composition to more advanced subjects, I'll always make sure learning is structured and paced appropriately. You'll learn many of the theoretical aspects of theory/composition as well as growing your own unique approach to learning about and writing music.
I am a strong believer that a student who does not have focus and the resolve to try and change, will not be able to grow or improve their skills, in other words, the student must be disciplined, a teacher can't train that in a student. I like to start from the foundation by inquiring what the student wishes to achieve (including time frame, how far they intend to take the skill etc).
My current teaching method is to: 1) Hear my student play and 2) help them out with what they need to improve their musical performance. I enjoy using a step-by-step method to approach each problem students find difficult to overcome, so that a greater sense of learning and achievement has been earned by the student.

I've been teaching since out of high school for seven years with my experience with students ranging from 4 years old to students in their 60s and 70s. I can teach instrumental practices of piano and drums to beginners and intermediate students although I primarily now teach electronic production, composition, songwriting and music theory.
My way of teaching is from my many years of playing shows, practicing, teaching and just being a musician as well. I can identify what problems the individual needs to become more aware of and I create lessons according to what he/she needs to learn to become proficient in that area.
I focus on the learning needs of my students during lessons. I believe music should be internalised before it can be expressed. This way, students will be taught to play from the heart, which makes lessons less clinical and more enjoyable.
I prefer to learn what kind of learner my student is as soon as possible, so I can tailor the teaching towards what works best for them. Some students prefer to watch the piece be played before trying it themselves, some learn better by diving right in and some would rather listen and follow along.
