I teach each student as the individual they are. Everyone has different learning methods and ways of understanding; I like to get to know my students and their background in the subject so that they can learn the subject efficiently and affectively.
I'm all about fun. Pencil and paper doesn't work for everyone, so I make it my challenge to find a way which engages my students and helps them to really explore the subject. No question is a silly question. Questions are key to unlocking understanding, and I aim to provide a comfortable and relaxed learning environment which encourages question asking and curiosity.
During my years in Buenos Aires, I worked as an English teacher at the prestigious Holistic Institute of English, based in Buenos Aires. There, not only I learned how to teach but also how to do it with holistic, creative, learning activities. Moreover, I'm a music and art enthusiast and I usually include these as teaching tools.
Maths is about learning and applying - not memorising. Not only can I provide the necessary knowledge, I focus on developing problem solving abilities, critical thinking and alternate approaches to a broad range of mathematical topics.
I have 11 years experience tutoring students from High school, TAFE, 1st year university and adult bridging courses. I have achieved a double major degree in chemistry and biology, with a minor in mathematics. In order to get the best results from my students, I tailor my lessons to suit their needs.
I have been a math tutor for two years, having tutored children of all ages from 5 to 18. While tutoring I demonstrate tricks that often help link the missing piece of a concept. I will help with homework and then go over some extra examples to ensure that the concept fully makes sense.
Every student is unique. I base my lesson structures based on the individual needs of the student. I also implement a variety of visual aids, interesting questions, and problem-solving approaches to ensure that the student truly understands the fundamentals of a subject. I try to make my lessons as engaging and interactive as possible.
I try to change my method of teaching according to student's needs. Generally, I prefer to involve the student in the subject, by trying to let them explain what they understand about it. If they have an exercise to do, I want them to be able to do it by themselves at the end.
Maths is taught best when it is made relatable. I use common examples and everyday examples to make complicated areas of the subject more understandable. I assess the student's ability to learn and teach using the most viable method for the student to retain information.
I am able to fast-track a student, ahead of the school syllabus in order to provide enough time for exam preparation or I can also assist with school homework as I am incredibly flexible with my teaching and can tailor to the student's needs. I can provide many materials for exam preparation, including past papers from many of the top NSW school and provide effective study tips and techniques.
I lecture on a chapter basis with a briefing first on syntax, methodology, core ideas, example and then solving problems. I also take care of students individual understanding toward solving a problem making a friendly relation with students. I respect and maintain cultural harmony with them.
My teaching method is supportive of all students. I base my classes of any necessary needs the students will have. I approach a topic by asking questions to see what the students know and what needs developing to help them to succeed to the best of their ability.
I teach my students based upon their understanding levels. I always encourage my student by giving motivational speech. I make them self dependent. I teach student individually and also in a group.
I believe every child has a different way of learning. So, as a tutor it is necessary to connect with the students personally. Mathematics is all about problems. If the basics are clear then the subject is a child's play. In my classes, I usually focus on teaching students basic concepts and then moving to problems. To boost students confidence, I conduct frequent assessments.
I put a strong emphasis on preparation to make the most of our time. Lesson Procedure: > Email the subject areas that need work or a specific assignment that you need help understanding. > I prepare material and resources for your lesson. > We work through the problems and I email practise material to prepare for our next session.
I understand that there are various learning styles and usually spend time to get to know which environment my students learn best in. This is why I try to make sure all my classes are tailored to how each student absorbs and retains information best.
I am very enthusiastic, friendly and humorous. I really love working with primary school students because they are so curious about everything and I absolutely love that attitude when it comes to learning new things. When it comes to tutoring my friends, I always find out what they don't understand and need help on. I then teach them that topic to improve their understanding.
I use an active learning approach in my tuition sessions meaning I aim to engage the learner through open ended questioning and regular self assessment questions. When it comes to writing, I am a massive fan of the 'Colin's writing approach' and use this framework with all my students.
I like to let my students guide the lesson. I will come prepared for anything within their syllabus however, they are the one who know what they need more assistance on so will answer their questions and ask if they have any questions. I also ask for any practice exams or quizes so I can come with prepared answers.
My teaching methods are based around each students learning style and the work they are currently undertaking. I am happy to supervise homework or make up my own work sheets to provide the student with the most comprehensive understanding possible.
I will adapt my methodology to your expectation and level.
I used to teach my student applying a blended learning approach. I divide the tutoring hours into several small sections according to the planned tasks. In the first section of my lecture, I review the previous lesson, the second section is designed for delivering the lecture, the third section for exercise, and final is for solving the remaining problem that my student does not understand yet.
I believe that every student is different, and with some concepts being difficult to grasp, the approach to success requires flexibility. My philosophy in learning is ensuring that students understand the basics of the task at hand, which once mastered, can be followed by applying those basics to more complex problem solving.
I am very calm person and teach the learners according to their requirements. I always encourage them to ask the questions in between the class to make them understand the problems fully. I have got lot of patience for others.
My lessons and tutoring will be aimed at you. Not only what you're struggling with, but what you understand well, and how you best learn, in order to foster more thorough understanding. Something I feel is probably the most valuable about the way I teach, is I genuinely want to help you. I will take the time with you and adapt the way I am teaching to suit you.
My class is mostly based on making complicated things to understand into practical approach with examples. I also rely on giving concept based problems to make them understand better. Fortnightly short test to evaluate the understanding and regular home works are my top most priority.
Firstly, I am open to answering any questions students have at the start of the lesson. If there are not many questions, I can explain concepts that students are struggling with and provide sample questions at the end of the lesson to solidify the concept.
I am more focused about dealing with the fundamentals of a subject or a topic, because once my student(s) can understand and grasp the fundamental rudiments of a topic, it boosts their interest and also increases their confidence to approach more technical topics even on their own.
I understand the students can feel like all their content is jumbled facts which they need to remember, and then they often find themselves overwhelmed. I tackle this problem by looking at the concepts and seeing how the components all connect and helping the students understand each part separately and as a whole.
My approach to tutoring is understanding the needs of each student as every student is different.
