I tailor my classes by honing in on areas of confusion you may have to tweak those, and give you an insight into the examiner's mind
I base my classes on fundamental skills and focus the lessons towards the needs of the students. I prefer lessons where students actively engage in the skill and show the extent of their knowledge that we can then build on together.
My teaching method encourages the student to be creative on confident with manipulating their own language to inform and justify their points in English. I am very relaxed, easy going and allow to the student to go at their own pace before pushing them above and beyond.
My teaching method is to help the student understand the practicality of language and make learning a fun session without any boredom. Learning should always be simple and interesting to a child and that is what my philosophy about teaching is.
First and foremost, I like to cater my lessons towards the individual student. Everyone learns differently, so I always try my best to work at a pace that I believe will provide my students with the best results. As an English tutor, I do like to provide students with different vocabulary words each session, so they can continue to develop their ability to express thoughts and ideas.
As a facilitator of my students’ learning process, I encourage my students to develop their own learning style, understanding that each child is an individual and has different needs. I actively engage my students with the incorporation of ICT and real-world application, with the aim to create meaningful experiences.
My approach to tutoring changes depending on the student I am working with. I acknowledge that not one style works for everyone and so use the first session to work out how the student will respond to different types of teaching methods. Then determine how best to help them learn and get the most out of the session.
I'm an easy-going, high-achieving Arts student with a focus on Literacy, Education and History. I game in my spare time and function as a night owl. I offer fun, relaxed sessions aiming to help anyone struggling with English, writing or anything to do with the very complex English language.
I am Maneka Fernando, and I have been teaching English Literature for upper class students for 6 years. I enjoy classical literature therefore my teaching method is not strictly academic. However, I am willing to adjust my methods to cater to the needs of the types of students that I teach.
I'm a friendly, creative and flexible uni student with 10 years of experience working with kids. I graduated in 2015 and currently study at the University of Melbourne.
The most basic (and important) requirement necessary for a successful academic record is practice: to repeat what you have learned again and again. However, it is different in creative writing, where it is expected for someone to explore themes that may have previously been dissected to challenge how someone perceives the entire story (e.g. twist).
I like to eat pho on the weekends, learn as much as I can through reading and podcasts during the week and when I’m not tutoring, risk my life getting my back taken in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
I familiarise myself first with their reading material or assignment. I then tend to go over a student's writing and point out the places that need work, for example textual evidence, sentence fluency, vocabulary, or reasoning. Then I help them to come up with alternatives themselves so that I don't directly provide them with answers.
I like to keep my lessons as fluid and interactive as possible, and I rarely stick to one formula. My method depends very much on who I'm tutoring, and I try to customise lesson content, structure and style as much as I can.
I am a very patient teacher who can work with a range of ages (from primary to high school). I'm aware every child learns differently so i will often focus on how to best teach a child based on how they learn.
I adapt my teaching approach to the needs of my students. It is my belief that workshoping essays is the most effective way to ensure a student's comprehension of a literary text, but it ultimately depends on the needs of the student - often, analysing passages together is just as effective.
I like to believe that anything that is to be taught or learnt, has to be done slowly. I like to teach and read along or study along with the student aloud and slow. The method I believe to be the simplest and easiest way to teach and learn is to understand the concept through questions and as a story.
I try to make things as simple as they are. We often over-complicate our tasks and work, and I see it as my job — something I enjoy — to help students to develop basic strategies to get tasks done.
I begin with the premise that ALL students have what it takes to achieve their academic goals. Completing a Masters in Education (Inclusive Learning) has given me the tools to meet the learning needs of all of my students. Our sessions will be informative, fun and creative.
Areas of specialisation are English and Drama. In addition to completing my Masters I have a BA in performing Arts from Charles Sturt University. My philosophy is founded in working to engage students with subject material in dynamic and original ways that work best for their preferred learning style.
I love literature! I have just graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Literature and Australian Studies. I have been accepted into Honours.
1. Develop their interpersonal skills through group participation and conversation 2. Reading Paragraphs 3. Motivate students to write their own ideas about a situation 4. Listening exercises through videos/presentation clips/ movies talk etc.
I like to tailor my lessons to students' needs and individual goals - I am happy to help with homework, clarify school lessons, as well as provide extra relevant texts and resources if students would like.
As a literature student and an English tutor i always strongly encourage analytical writing. In my lessons i always encourage students to think analytically, to try and see things from various perspectives, but, most importantly, to learn how to justify one's opinion or approach with relevant textual evidence.
My tutoring lessons will be based upon the requirements of the students themselves as I have found that each student is different and they learn concepts at different speeds.
I approach topics thoroughly and efficiently. I will address fundamental and basic gaps in knowledge of students in order to progress and reach their required level of English. A collaborative team work will also be ensued to breakdown the traditional teacher/student set-up. This creates a confident boosting environment for students.
I base my classes as interactive as possible. I like my students to have fun while learning and make the lessons memorable. To do this I will link my teaching to real life experiences and use many resources. I also like students to have active learning experiences rather than being 'talked at'.
I encourage active learning with constant support, guidance and encouragement. My philosophy is that we work together to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I will meet with you face to face if possible and provide online support also.
I'm an easy-going University student with a focus on literacy and english skills, including reading and all forms of creative and analytical writing. As an educator I understand that every student is different and therefore strongly believe in catering each lesson to the specific student's needs.
My lessons are geared towards all students as I am to encourage engagement in learning through adaptability and tailoring to the needs of a student. My tutoring structure would take into account what the student is having trouble with, what any teachers comments have highlighted and what I believe could be improved.
