English is highly subjective, and requires development of ideas and opinions rather than clear-cut answers. For this reason, my objective is to empower students to think through and present their ideas with confidence and clarity.
Patience and engaging the student, praising efforts and rewarding with stickers. I provide my own resources. 'Homework' is provided, dependent wholly upon the child's own will to complete their set task/s, with no pressure or expectations placed on the child.
My methods are based on a child’s capabilities. The ability to learn is just important as enjoying. The methods that are used will be remembered for a lifetime. I also implement methods used from my education. I believe encouraging children to find their own methods with suitable guidance.
My teaching methods are based on evidence-based techniques that are widely used in high schools across Sydney. Each lesson provides core activities that are delivered with supporting or extension variants to mold to the student's learning profile.
My teaching method is instructional conversation. Rather than just telling children information they need to know, i prefer to allow them to question and discuss their thought processes, allowing them to organically learn. I want to provide an engaging learning environment for children which makes them interested in learning.
I would empower my students by engaging with them in real life application examples so that learning becomes fun and more enjoyable for them. Customizing and modifying lesson plans and question papers to meet the learning needs of the students has been of prime importance to me.
I believe that every student has a unique ability, I look for that ability and structure my lessons around the success and skills of that ability. I endeavour to find the blockages in a student's learning and work with the individual to clear or work around any impediment.
I have always found didactic teaching in my years of school and university very ineffective. I only understand the use and value of new knowledge if I know how to apply it - through exercises and interactive practice. I will not give monologues to tutoring students, but help them understand what they are learning.
I like to take a fun and direct approach to learning where learning is achieved at a pace which is applicable to the student. Each student learns in a different way and I believe that having patience and understanding with students about the way they learn is key in them moving forward and developing a deeper understanding.
I adore the English language, and I strive to instil in my students both the joy and the advantages a good grasp on this subject will bring. I tailor my method to meet the needs of individual students, in accord with their strengths and weaknesses, and any desired outcomes expressed.
My teaching method is to ascertain what a student knows before attempting to teach new concepts. I look for creative ways to assist my students to remember important information. I use the arts to enhance my teachings such as visual aids and music. My engaging personality makes my students at ease and encourages great results.
My teaching philosophy is centred on understanding. My belief is that if a student has the proper groundwork in place, they can achieve anything! Hence, my focus tends not to be on just completing a specific assignment or essay but on a deeper comprehension of texts and questions.
I base my sessions on what the child needs wether it is help with their homework or help with areas they may be struggling with. I will plan a session to meet the needs and wants of the child and the parent.
I like to personalise my teaching method to each student, as a cemented pedagogy will not work the same on everyone. Studying the ins and outs of teaching has given me the ability to do this. I like to be able to discuss the lessons with my students and work together to ensure that I am helping them to my best ability.
Through studying education as well as working with children for over 4 years I have found many different methods I find successful in teaching children. I consider the relationship between the child and myself of the most important, and aim to build trust so that students feel comfortable sharing their work and struggles with me.
I endeavour to help students of all ages and ability reach, and consequently succeed their academic goals. I believe students require patient, caring, informed and disciplined tutors to advance their academic growth, and I implement those virtues into my teaching.
Students learn best when the lessons are suited to their learning style. I work on the visual, auditory, kinesthetic system - that is do you learn best by watching, listening or doing. By understanding the student's style of learning, the ability for the student to increase their skills and knowledge is possible.
I specialise in supporting primary school kids experiencing particular difficulties in reading, writing and comprehension. I have a high level of success using lessons that are fun and reinforce their sense of competence and experience of success.
My teaching methodology is student-directed. I provide input and support as needed, but structure the lesson around each student's particular point of need. I have extensive experience working with students who need assistance with a subject of difficulty, particularly English.
I want to know where you are at on the journey to learn to read. Once that is established we can extend the distance you have travelled. The best way to assist is by building through an educational relationship based on honesty, trust and understanding. This shows your learning style. To do this I must get to know you, the individual.

I usually start with a thorough diagnostic assessment . I also like to find out what interests students have so that I can plan lessons around them individually as far as possible. If it were literacy I would usually do a Woodcock assessment. For other writing/ reading skills I would ask for an essay to look at to get me started on where "gaps" in understanding or skills lie.
I know each student learns differently and so my methodology changes from student to student. I am comfortable working with students who struggle, or need a little extra time and assistance. I understand that building confidence in a subject is just as important as teaching the subject itself.
My teaching method is friendly and fun! I am not set in any teaching plan - we will find what method suits you best and use that to help you improve. For school settings, I will read through the task sheet and marking rubric to fully understand what your teacher wants before using this to aid in my tutoring.
I like to tailor my lessons to students' needs and individual goals - I am happy to help with homework, clarify school lessons, as well as provide extra relevant texts and resources if students would like.
I am a mature-aged educator, with a PhD in education. I have taught all school grades from pre-school to Year 12 including Maths to Year 10 and English and History to Year 12. I have also lectured in the VET system. I am persuaded that no learning takes place when children are bored, hungry, tense, upset, or feeling under pressure.
Hello! My name is Christine. Originally from Tasmania, I started living and teaching in Brisbane about four years ago. Growing up, English and Chinese have been my favourite subjects and hope to help students make the most of them (or either) as well.
CIARA KIRBY I am a committed, hardworking student with a strong work ethic and friendly attitude. I am currently undertaking a bachelor degree in Arts at the University of Melbourne. I am enthusiastic and very interested in working with students of all year levels to help them achieve their best.
An experienced teacher in England and Tasmania. I am enthusiastic about teaching students and watching them grow in their educational studies. I try to make my lessons fun and educational at the same time. A relaxed learning environment is important.
I enjoy teaching people skills to learn independently. I encourage critical thinking skills in their learning process but to do so with knowledge and proof. My philosophy about learning new subjects is that it is not about not knowing but that it has not yet been learnt and understood. It may take different approaches to finally understand information or processes.
