Evaluate the student's skill level and genders of interest in music, identification of their main difficulties, attend to each one properly in order to achieve a cleanear sound and a smooth play with more and more comfort with the instrument. Provide them with the necessary exercises and techniques to allow them to maintain a good level os satisfaction and sense of progress.
The way you want to play guitar, and the kind of music you are used to listen to will define the structure of the lessons. Obviously you won't be able to play like a rock star the first time and without any guitar bases. That is why I suggest a standard lesson structure: - Basic advice: how to hold the guitar; tune the guitare; change the strings, which position for the fingers ...
I don't stick to any teaching methodology. I try my best to learn what teaching style best suits the student then I try to adapt to that teaching style. In most cases, the best way to learn is to have hands on exercises.
I have always believed the music comes from the soul so that whatever style or sound you produce is a part of that person and their soul and who they are as a person. It is an instrument anyone can learn as long as they feel it enough to want to learn. Slow and steady and taking your time is a big must when learning guitar.
My teaching method is based upon what I've learnt over the years as a student myself (I'm still learning new things every day).
My teaching method is based on the individual. I try to focus on having fun to foster motivation with the instrument.
WHAT I COVER IN A LESSON: SINGING: - Work on your favourite songs - Work on your original songs - How and when to harmonize - Learn how to warm up effectively - Exercises to strengthen and protect your voice - Singing with emotion: When to project and when to hold back - Speaking on stage: How to introduce your songs SONGWRITING: I believe songwriting is very personal
My teaching method is tailored to the student. Some students come to me with a very specific taste in music and like to talk about their passion and guide the lesson through their interest. I always employ the 'I do, we do and you do' method of teaching. I also provide students with an MP4 of the song they are learning so they can take it away and practice in between sessions.
