Fun engaging lessons with plenty of recaps to make sure you have understood the content. I use humour, video clips, and innovative methods to get you thinking. My lessons are staged in manegable chunks with a recap or quiz at the end. I have taught mainstream 11 to 18 year olds in the UK in tough challenging schools and taught SEND behavioural 9 to 16 year olds.
I am so passionate about history that my lessons leap out of the books and come alive! Learning is fun, inspiring and hands on.
My teaching methodology is centred around the student.
History can be challenging but also incredibly interesting. Whilst I am a Provisional Medicine student, I have a passion for History and enjoyed it in years 11 and 12. Lessons would be based on exam material and also research assignments and essay.
I focus on the specific issues that the students are facing. In regards to history I particularly look at historiography and for high school students assist them in preparing for their future university studies. I work with primary and secondary students.
I believe that each student is different and that we are all diverse learners. I like to gain an understanding of each student so that I can tailor my teaching methods to their specific needs and strengths.
I am a highly organised student who is able to cope under all sorts of circumstances and deal with stress. I have been commended multiple times on my personality and how it suits tutoring. I am easy going and have lesson structures that are flexible around the students needs.
I approach my teaching by known my students and their abilities, interests and strengths. I tailor my teaching accordingly so that I can ensure my students feel connected and engaged with what they are learning. I am an out of the box thinker who has a passion for learning and I love sharing this passion through my creative, innovative and interesting lessons that I tailor to suit my students.
As as pre-service teacher I am well equipped to planning my tutoring sessions to suit the students needs. I believe everyone can be their best with guidance. I will plan my lessons toward your particular learning style, for example if you're a visual learner then I will be using more visual stimulus to engage you with the content.
My teaching method is very simple. I start with an introductory lesson to connect with the student and introduce myself to them. I then spend the lesson discussing how they like to learn and familiarize myself with a style that will best suit them. This ranges from visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning. The following lessons are then all taught to the students specialized style.
I believe and utilise the pedagogy of 'Students as Partners' in my teaching and learning practice. What this means is that I will work with you in an open and dynamic way seeking to break down the popular didactic power relationships typically embedded in teaching in order to better grasp and fulfil the unique requirements of each student.
Identify student learning objectives and focus area. Work through practical exercises be in physical making or writing for history. Discussion of key points, artists, and artworks for contextualisation. Systematic breakdown of assignment task sheets. Both digital and physical approaches to written responses.
If you are keen to learn and to achieve at school or university to the best of your ability, I can help you achieve your goals! I believe in student focused inquiry based learning drawing on evidence-based principles. Teaching and learning are active functions and focused on individual needs.
