For young kids I organise games , songs. Videos, toys . They learn with fun . Older kids and adults will be doing conversation, reading and comprehension, grammar, translations , dictations and so on .
I usually am very focused on comprehension and the ability to express yourself well enough to be understood at first. As a student, I know I found the more fun and entertaining the lessons were, the more focused I was too. I think it's important to introduce students to the culture, were it through books, movies, series or generally just discussing cliches we may have about France especially.
I base my methods on the natural languages approach in addition to a focus on grammar. I have found this the most instructive method.

I like using conversations/ flash cards/ more practical methods in your learning. Students have more chance to speak and I use 'the silent method', which means I will allow you to finish with your whole speech, before correcting your mistakes, this way, you will not be interrupted.
