I follow a student-centered approach to teaching. It is very important that the student and I outline together what the student wishes to gain from our lessons. We start by identifying problem areas and specific topics or lessons that give the student trouble and we go from there. Lessons are always unique to the student, and will go at whichever pace is most suited to them.
I base my classes on experiencing the language in different ways - reading, writing, speaking, listening. I try to do so in creative and fun ways. I can help with anything from classwork, general language studies, written work, or preparation for a specific event and/or project.
I can teach both formally and informally and this will depend on you, the student, your own experiences of speaking English and therefore the teaching will also be dependent on your level of English; What you feel comfortable with and how quickly you would like results! I am happy to role model English to support writing and reading skills.
I believe that providing students with a specific answer is more detrimental than beneficial for their ongoing learning. As such, I try to facilitate their exploration of a topic, building upon their current understanding to a point where they are sufficiently confident and knowledgeable to lead their own learning.
I assess your existing knowledge and discuss goals you want to achieve. I will teach you and guide you according to your preferred learning style. The lessons will be very casual and relaxed, and there will be a variety of teaching aids used.
So I prefer teaching to individuals because I feel this gives the student a more personal approach to learning. I focus on all kinds of students, so your background or your skill level does not faze me; I'm happy to help whomever.
I love learning. I aim to assist with current homework from school. Sometimes it is helpful to have someone to discuss topics and ideas with when doing essential assignments (research project is a big one!) and essays for any class. I can also help go over topics, create personalised study plans and ways to benefit studies.
I am a secondary teaching student at Deakin University and have been tutoring for 8 years. My speciality is teaching English to speakers of other languages and thus have a deep understanding of language foundations. I know three languages: English, French and Spanish and tutor languages, including English as an additional language, maths and biology.
I believe that everyone learns differently, so much so that I feel categorisation of such learning styles into Visual, Aural, etc. to be ineffective. I would like to allow the students to decide how they would like to be taught, and build a method of teaching around this.
My teaching methodology is based upon understanding the student, approaching them and their work with assertiveness, kindness as well as friendliness, helping them to achieve their full potential. I am to teach them based upon how they feel they learn best.
What most teachers and tutors don't understand is the importance of teaching based on individual needs. Not everyone learns or grasp concepts the same way. Therefore, I like to begin my lessons with noting down problems that the student has from their school curriculum or in general.
Lessons consist of reading, writing, listening and speaking, discussing grammar and sentence structure. Homework will be given and additional learning aids might also be used during lessons and for homework. Reading is definitely the most important vocabulary builder, thus I will recommend reading English books (or books translated into English, if that is easier) apart from homework.
I use student centred approach.
I have a lifelong appreciation of languages thanks to my migrant grandparents. I feel this helps me connect with my students as I try to offer a unique and enjoyable learning experience. My classes (both private and group) can be designed to suit my students' needs.
In my lessons I use a vast variety of materials personally tailored to each student's needs, assign written and memorising tasks. Lessons consist of listening, spoken, written and reading learning components. I try to make learning fun and enjoyable for all.
Very Montessori, meaning using the senses, make what you are teaching tangible, prepare yourself and be fully present for the child/student. Keep a detailed record of what happens during each lesson to prevent 'gaps' in comprehension or understanding. Have a positive and constuctive attitude no matter what because learners pick 'things' up between the lines...
Firstly, I'll let student watch movies with English subtitles, remember words, expressions and get used to English environment and ways of thinking. Secondly, I'll let student watch the same movie again and again without subtitles to enhance their listening. However, enlarging vocab. and doing exercise is also important.
Talk to the student and how they best learn, as everybody has a different approach to learning and they absorb information in different ways. I would do my best to make sure the student understands things that I am teaching.
I have a can-do, non-judgemental attitude and welcome all students to be tutored by me, regardless of their proficiency in english. I want to teach students who are driven to achieve their best results and who are willing to apply themselves fully.
My method is: 1. Learn about your goals for learning English. Why do you want to learn more? What skills do you want to build? 2. Find out how you learn best. 3. Make a plan for our classes that you can add to. 4. Work with you to build your English over time. 5. Ask what you like and don't like about the classes so we can make them perfect for you.
My teaching method is custom-made. Every student, every class is different. They all need an approach tailored to their needs. I believe that courses, by nature, often cannot focus enough on the students' individual needs. When I teach, I do my best to provide fully personalized lessons.
I am passionate about teaching and working with children and youth. I believe in making lessons a two-way interaction and giving my students as many opportunities as possible to contribute to their own learning. At the same time, I also prefer a systematic approach towards learning and will plan my lesson according to the student's needs.
I start with a goal-oriented, back planning approach. I set a simple goal for the long term and one for each class. From there i work backwards to plan lessons that incorporate multiple English literacy skills: writing, reading, listening, speaking, and understanding.
As an experienced lecturer, I base my teaching on the standard text books. With regards to my technique, I'm always mindful of the differences of every student. I always start with the basic things that they have to learn and with this I require them to listen. The next part will be an interactive part which I make it a point that it is an interesting and a knowledge-based interaction.
My real strength is my engaging personality and flexible teaching style. I pride myself on my reputation for making complicated concepts and ideas easily comprehensible. When I assist a student on a topic they are struggling with, I ensure that they understand it, inside and out.
I have a relaxed way of teaching. I find out what students want to learn and their goal for English learning. I then make a lesson which suits their needs.
My teaching method would combine all the methods such as lecture style, group style and activity style which would allow students to earn effectively. I do not depend on one method because it might make the student boring. Therefore, it is important to use materials such as videos, activity sheets, group activities and games.
Theory, Practical and role plays. My lesson are structured for beginners and those with limited understanding of English. It is designed for the student to relax and have fun learning and interacting with different life scenarios so they can relate to. his helps them learn faster and relate to their own way of speaking and culture.
My teaching methods are English and History, however, if need be, I am able to span out from these subjects. I structure my lessons around your needs and how you learn (visual cues, written, verbal). We could also have a mix up of these things, depending on what you would like and feel comfortable with.
My teaching methods are based on providing students with challenging lessons individually tailored to their needs and interests. I like to find out as much as I can about my students so I can make the lessons relevant and fun. I make sure that each topic or exercise is thoroughly understood before moving on to the next challenge.
