I like to begin by breaking down the task. All too often many students struggle with achieving well due to not understanding what it is they're supposed to be doing in their assignments. This is not helped by wordy task sheets which have phrases like "discerning analysis of the topic".
I approach tutoring by following my student's class homework and assessment schedules, then expanding to offer more advanced exercises and tests as required by the student. I offer comprehensive tutoring with a warm and encouraging approach, and am able to tailor each lesson to suit the student's preferred learning style.
I provide a safe and supportive learning environment for my students through building positive relationships as well as teaching engaging and enjoyable lessons. Along with my seven years of classroom teacher experience I have also completed over 100 hours of professional development and therefore can draw on a number of different strategies depending on the students learning style learning needs.
I live ten minutes walk from Cavendish Road State High School. I prefer to tutor at my place however, I am open to traveling short distances to a student's preferred location. I can also tutor at UQ St Lucia if that suits the student.
I teach by constantly readjusting my teaching style to the individualistic needs of the student. Whether they learn visually, hands-on or through theory I will provide suitable stimuli to improve their results and abilities. I can easily do mathematical sums in my head and am good at making up example questions.
I teach using a hands on, inquiry method to get students thinking about the 'why' behind their studies. I also use regular movement breaks as studies have shown this technique to be effective, particularly when working with younger children. I help students to gain the confidence they need to achieve success in their examinations and in regular classroom settings.
I am an experienced teacher and Educational Doctoral student with the time to spend one to one to ensure your child achieves to their potential at school. If it is a lack of basics holding them back, I can fill those gaps! If they are not being extended, I can help them grow and develop new skills and attitudes. I can help edit and refine any item of written work for most purposes.
My teaching method is mostly casual. I am able to design each lesson around students individual needs especially young children.
I am outgoing, friendly lessons were for students years behind in education. I have rarely had to structure a lesson plan that was the teachers job. Teaching methods - simplicity promotes understanding.
My teaching methods are structured and easy to understand, but also allow students the flexibility to think and progress in their own way. Depending on the needs of the student, I can give a few nuggets of advice via email or messenger (how to word certain parts of an essay, resume, etc.), go over entire works and give my impressions, or even provide short quizzes.
It would be effective to teach English based on their needs. With communicative approach, I facilitate their learning by putting them in the real situation. For example, brainstorming on things around the topic: transportation, street direction, length of time, etc.
I am organised, patient and dedicated to teaching children. I am interested in helping your child in any areas of schooling that they need assistance with.
I studied Primary School Teaching at QUT where the main philosophy used was constructivism and scaffolding. I ask the parents where their child is having problems and what their marks have been like and aim to improve their marks, build on their existing knowledge and improve their results. I also try to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible.
I am flexible and can adapt my lessons to my students. I believe that knowledge is power. I like to break work down and do it in steps - I believe this is the best way to learn and remember.
My teaching method includes a initial skills test and then from there I will create a personised program to meet the students need.
My teaching method is based on my general knowledge i have on subjects such as social sciences, geography, maths and writing. If i am not confident about a particularly topic, I will make sure I acquire the necessary knowledge about that topic either through the internet or state library then apply this knowledge to my student.
I would like to get to know my student first because that will help me to prepare my lessons.e.g. whether my student can work for a full hour then take a break or whether my student needs a break every 30 minutes. To begin, I would usually start with asking the student if he/she have any homework or assignments that may be due soon so we can work through it.
My teaching method is to approach a concept from where the student's understanding is clearest, to build a firm understand from the foundation up. I love empowering students and helping them to realise their own potential, helping to build a brighter future.
Hello! My name is Christine. Originally from Tasmania, I started living and teaching in Brisbane about four years ago. Growing up, English and Chinese have been my favourite subjects and hope to help students make the most of them (or either) as well.
Hi! My name is Kate and I am studying Business majoring in Economics and Marketing at QUT. I am looking to help and tutor student in English related subjects, in which I can help with general homework or assignments.
I have a flexible teaching style, tailoring lessons to my student's preferred learning methods. I am friendly and love to have a chat - as long as it doesn't bring the lesson too off-course! I believe that students learn best when they are engaged and interested in the content, and if they are given work to do consistently in order to produce noticeable results.
I believe the best teachers are those who show you where to look but do not tell you what to see. I aim to help bring your ideas and thoughts to life. By allowing you to express yourself and think for yourself I will work with you to help you better understand the task and achieve all your goals.
My teaching method revolves around making content both relevant and engaging, thus enabling students to both connect and see a purpose in their learning. Incorporating a balanced literacy program through other areas of the curriculum is vital as it breaks down learning areas and forms a bigger picture.
I like to invest in my students, getting to know their aspirations, strengths and areas for development. This helps me frame up lessons using problem solving approaches, usually one-on-one or small groups sessions for optimal learning and support.
My approach to teaching is to make our content relatable and enjoyable for all the students I work with. I am passionate about inspiring a love for life-long learning – both in and out of the classroom – and I hope to help the students in my care achieve their goals and be confident in their own potential.
My teaching method is simple. If a student needs help with an essay I will help them with it, however I will ensure that the student will at the same time understand the text. I will not write the essay for the student completely, because I think in order to improve a student needs to be able to formulate essays themselves.
*My background has been diverse so the students my lessons would be geared toward are those who are struggling with reading and literacy skills.
I base my support around young children and young students studying. Lessons are run in the comfort of your own home, my home or if you prefer a relaxed cafe environment. I offer my services to you as tutoring availability during my younger years helped me to achieve where I am today. Ongoing support goes a long way.
I approach my classes and sessions based on a student's needs, concerns or goals. I prefer to create visual and enticing lessons to establish a comfortable learning environment in which students can flourish. I believe that each student has a different learning method and I am able to adapt and cater to any personal needs.
My teaching methods are based on what my students are currently working on, or desire to work on. From their, I will develop a program that will best benefit the student in learning all things necessary for their school work or general learning objectives.
