I am a third-year student in a Bachelor of English, looking to complete honors. I I am very familiar with reading and critiquing student works, editing for fluency, style and grammar (including creative works and formal essays). I can also assist with proper referencing, research, tips on close reading and literary theory. While this is my main area of study, I have experience in other areas.
I focus on making students understand concepts first. Once the student has gained an understanding of what we are dealing with, we then proceed to test that knowledge. In English, in particular, concepts may be hard to understand at first; the same is true for other subjects such as Maths. Therefore, I work predominantly with ideas, using student's own words and familiarity.
I teach students who are struggling to keep up with the demands of the syllabus, as well as students who just require a second eye to look over their work and point out the areas they can adjust their writing or their study methods to achieve the best results possible. My teaching method is tailored to how each student prefers to learn.
My teaching method is simple and straightforward. I will cover basic writing and research skills that will achieve the most marks and then advance onto other techniques such as understanding concepts and how to apply these skills to different types of questions. I take the time to get to know students and learn their strengths and weaknesses.
My lessons are aimed at students who struggle with english at any level, with a special focus on those who are undertaking HSC Advanced/ Standard English. I am happy to aid students in essay writing skills and tips and well as going over exam techniques and fundamentals within English (i.e. sentence structure etc.
To write well, one must first understand how to construct coherent language. A firm understanding of three major principles is vital to success: grammar, sentence structure, and information synthesis. With these, you can achieve clarity and improve your grades in any subject requiring academic writing.
I individualise my lessons and ensure what we work on in class is beneficial to what is happening at the student's school. I generally like to make sure the basics are covered and get an understanding of the student's comfort level before moving on to higher standard work.
My teaching methodology is adaptive and flexible depending on each individual student. I don't believe in an identical approach but one suited to each student's needs and strengths. This method produces the best results, in my opinion, and allows each student to feel more comfortable in the teaching environment.
Can teach anyone from as young as kindergarten (possibly before) to year 12. Depending on the age/difficulty of subject, each lesson would be different. I have worked with kids teaching them the alphabet, to year 12 students with exam prep. I have also travelled to Northern Territory to teach at a remote aboriginal school. Happy to adapt to whatever is needed.
For creative writing, essay writing and comparative study, I believe there is a systematic structure in perfecting these topics. Critical analysis of texts does however, require external knowledge of techniques. Flashcards, memory tactics and general study should assist in teaching students what they need to know.
Practicality is key , I teach using literal examples and images. Day to day occurrences always help one remember well.
My teaching method is going through the problem, working out how to fix it together and having the student attempt to solve the issue by themselves.
I am currently studying Primary School Teaching, I have successfully completed my HSC. I am looking to help support other people.
Before classes, I like to have read the text that my student is studying. I read over their rubrics to understand the core outcomes of the module. With face-to-face teaching methods, I first explain concepts that the student does not understand. Then, I will go over any work I have previously marked from the student, and obtain more draft essays or other pieces of work that the student has.
I am currently in my second year of my law degree at University of Newcastle, and looking to help students reach their full potential. I have tutored primary school children and high school children in the past, and am proficient in the areas of English, general maths, legal studies and humanities at a high school level, and all subjects at a primary level.
I'm currently studying Primary Education and have a passion to help you find the tools and learning style that works best for you. I want to help you to enjoy learning so will work with you in an individual or group setting as desired to build your confidence.
My teaching method is to work with the student to find problems and difficult areas to work on rather than merely pouring over countless exercises.
My teaching is tailored to each student and can take the form of coaching and guiding for assessments, filling in the gaps for students struggling in certain content areas and also extending capable students beyond grade level. Focus can be on assisting with school work or skill development depending on what the student is finding most challenging.
My teaching method is to ensure that students holistically understand how to best go about completing tasks so that they are able to excel and be productive both within the tutoring session, and when they are working in a self regulatory fashion at school and home.
I focus on developing students' essay-writing skills through paragraph structure and use of evidence in texts. I also improve students' ability to identify literary techniques which they can use to support their ideas. For example, if a student needs help with writing an essay, I can help them to create an outline, or to improve an existing draft.
My teaching methods will vary between each individual and how they learn best, but in general i will help them to improve in areas they are struggling or falling behind in, and help to build on their strengths to ensure they perform as the level they are aiming for!
I am very patient and teach my students step by step by outlining the structure of essays and creative pieces. I can help kids refine thesis statements and use appropriate language and persuasive writing techniques. I can teach kids from kindergarten to year 10.
I believe in trusting in the intelligence of children, and challenging them to push themselves beyond what they believe they are capable. My goal is to enthuse my students with a love and passion for learning, as well as to equip them with the proper methods to attain their goals.
I try to engage students on their level and find out what they're passionate about so I can help them realise that by simply putting down on paper natural thoughts and ideas about any topic they're passionate about they can do powerful writing.
