I believe in helping a person learn from his perspective. Therefore, lessons are structured according to students' wants and capabilities. Generally, we go through the basics on how to play. After that, we can experiment a few strategies before we enjoy playing it for a long time.
The goal is to develop a sense of the position, and overall understanding and love of the game. First I get to know the student - their chess background, their goals, style, and time commitment. Based on this information I will determine which areas of the game require work. I will ensure the basics (opening principles, standard endings, etc) are solid before continuing to more advanced stuff.
First I try to understand the kids' level. Than I try to analyze their skills in openings, in mid game and in end game. I first concentrate on mid-game skills; by going through educational chess games&problems, I try to create an intuition for positions. Depending the hours per week, sufficient time should be allocated to end game as well.
My method is that I will teach the student how to think, and how to analyse the position. I will teach the student how to develop some insight or instinct that is very important when the play in the tournament.
I like to take a fun step by step approach that breaks down the lesson into easily memorable chunks. We study not just 'how' to play chess but how to play chess well.

Player ranked oiver 2000, I often wonder how to accompany the progress of a student in an effective and sustainable way? I believe in 2 things: a transmitted passion combined with a structured and individualized teaching approach.
