I am an experiential educator and believe in strength based teaching. I believe in getting the students involved through playing and then adding the theory components behind their playing. My lessons are for beginners through to advanced guitar and bass students. Music is the soul of life.
I believe in practical knowledge rather than theory. So that my students could easily try my teachings and remember things easily. I like to teach self motivated students as motivation is a key to success. I do make a lot of efforts so that students do not have to do much.
My teaching method is simple and unique.
I have found over the years people learn more efficiently if whatever been taught directly relates to their interest or employment or they can use what they just learnt immediately outside the classroom. Therefore, I cater my lesson toward a more real-life situation. This depends on what my student need out of the lesson.
My teaching methods can vary depending on skill level to being on the shoreline assisting people getting to their feet. To surfing alongside to either lead by example or demonstrate prior knowledge. At the end of the day surfing is about having fun, enjoying our beach's and having a go. No one should feel embarrassed by getting some help, pointers or insider knowledge.
I base my lessons on having fun. I believe in a fun experience will have you wanting to continue surfing with a passion.
I teach by doing and refusing to allow the student to win unless it is earned fairly. This is how i was taught and i believe it is how people should learn. Through failure we grow.
I like to help people learn to love language as I do. Our ability to express ourselves, and understand others through their expression is a gift. I aim to offer a structured program that caters to all levels. I try to offer students practical learning that they can apply in their everyday life, to aid in the retention of new knowledge.
My method of teaching is top-down and/or bottom-up depends on the language or the subject that I teach. Top-down approach is to learn by creating significant pieces of real software . Whereas, bottom-up approach is to learn all the fundamental concepts of programming. It also can be flexible to suit the needs of the student.
As a multi-strand tutor, it's my pleasure to design alternative learning strategies for my individual students, according to their learning style, hobbies and long term goals. In particular, I love to assist people by incorporating second languages, music and art into the mix..
My teaching method is person-oriented. I know from personal experience, being self-taught and then taught privately and in a tertiary institute, that the process of learning is awkward and mentally painful. But, I've also learned through personal experience that it doesn't have to be that way.
My classes are devoted to creating a safe and supportive environment to explore strengthening and stretching the body. I use techniques such as movement, breath, sound and meditation to create health, joy, focus and presence. Suitable for beginner to advanced practitioners.
My lessons will be tailored to suit your needs following an assessment of your current understanding and knowledge of the subject, there is no generic lesson structure because every learner is different and will ultimately benefit most from a customised approach
I teach people what they want to learn and try to teach each student in a way they will learn quickly while having fun. Some people learn in a tactile way while others prefer a more structured approach. I can also teach from beginners to advanced and even the most experienced players will learn something new including me.
