Although English is my native language, I have studied French and Russian to University level, so I know and understand the struggles of getting to grips with a new language, as well as having plenty of techniques and advice up my sleeve for effective language learning. I approach music student lessons with a structure that brings together the student's current abilities with their potential to grow in a particular field. I model a learning activity, allowing the student to contribute/participate, while gradually increasing the level of challenge. This works particularly well in live performance studies.
I adapt my teaching according to the ages and methods already used. For kids, support on their current methods. For adults, I like acting and talking , then re-affirm the learning by writing.
My teaching method is based on the Circle of Courage theory, whereby four universal needs: belonging, mastery, independence and generosity must be met in order to grow.
