I base my teaching on a students needs. I prefer a practical/ hands-on approach and want to make the lessons fun and realistic. I really understand how hard it is to understand our Australian accent, our "words" for different things including reading mail from Centrelink, Medicare etc.
I aim for students to develop a good technique on their instrument first of all as this is an important foundation. Then I get students to start playing music they love as soon as possible. Being able to use their ears is very important too.
I teach using the practical approach, with intensive thinking and self learning all combined to provide students with logical as well as practical knowledge of the subject. Lectures are given and each lecture ends with a end of lecture thinking exercise.
