I put a strong emphasis on preparation to make the most of our time. Lesson Procedure: > Email the subject areas that need work or a specific assignment that you need help understanding. > I prepare material and resources for your lesson. > We work through the problems and I email practise material to prepare for our next session.
I will assume you are already following a curriculum at school. You ask the question and then I will guide you to find the solution. I will put things into context with real world applications. But we work together in finding out what best helps you in learning.
During individual sessions I support students to see where they have thinking or doing weaknesses and teach them how to overcome these both psychologically and through practical tips and tricks. I guide students to find their individual favourite maths learning and practice method and monitor their progress.
After identifying your learning goals, in line with your course requirements, and listening to you, I will set a few questions to identify what you already know and where your weaknesses are. I use a lot of questions to prompt thinking and check understanding. I can patiently revisit things as required. I also find online resources you can use in your own time to help your learning of key concepts.
Throughout school I did Maths B & C, Physics, Chemisty, English and Study of religion, but I achieved my best results in Maths. I come from a family of mathematicians and love discussing and teaching maths to those who need help or are curious. I am currently studying to become a Secondary Teacher at QUT.
I believe students learn from doing and practising. This is especially prudent for Mathematics. My teaching style involves students to gain confidence by systematically being able to answer harder and harder questions. Many students do not respond well to being lectured to but rather discussing with.
I base my lessons on what the class teacher would like the student to improve on in the classroom. This will show improvements in results by the end of the year. I work on spelling strategies and teach mathematics in a way that a student understands.
My lessons follow an initial diagnostic assessment of students ability. We then create a program to suit.
I hope to teach students of school who need resolve mathematics problems and help him to understand how to resolve each one, trying to keep simplicity in the way to develop each point. I give examples than can help students a clear idea of what need to tackle a question.
My name is Mitchell and am finishing grade twelve this year. My specialty subject is math. I've been accelerated in math B and am also studying math C so I can cover most math topics. My lessons will be personalized for the student and whether they need help with the knowledge, problem solving or how to tackle an exam question.
