My name is Hannah Rothwell and I am a university student who is available to tutor high school aged students in drama subjects. The lesson structure will vary depending on the students goals within drama, however, I am able to work on both practical and theory tasks and aid students with any assessment work they may have.
Practical Aesthetics Developed by actor William H. Macy and playwright David Mamet, this analytical approach emphasizes the simple pursuit of an action above all else. Actors’ attention goes to text-analysis, script work, and a literal understanding of a scene’s driving events.
My approach to acting is no nonsense, down to earth and practical. I believe there are no secrets, only good principles. For most actors it's about being reminded of what they already know, and working with people to keep them moving forward.
I teach from the heart and believe people learn the best when they feel confident in themselves. My classes have structure and routine which enables students to find a groove early on. I like practical and hands on work ; I believe it helps students to positivley retain information.
Each person is an individual, so although I may have specific learning materials I may use, over the years I have learnt to bring different methods to suit the individual, particularly if the student requires different methods of learning and succeeding.
I base my classes on the Bell Shakespeare methodology, which is retaining the wonderful classics, but giving them a modern twist. I teach works from Genet, to Beckett, to Shakespeare and Wilde, and other great classics with passion and emotion.
I am based in Melbourne. I aim to teach older high school students who require help with their drama. I ultimately wish to pursue a career in screenwriting and wrote my individual performance for Year 12, scoring 99%, so I would love to help write or tweak student's scripts. Additionally, I would offer performance advice, from blocking to character development.
The lesson is always progressive, starting about the general requirements for auditions, focusing further down on the character development and the script breakdown. In general, one would pick a scene to perform and the scene will be analysed and recommendations will be made upon the improvement of the performance.
Lessons differ depending on the student's needs.
My teaching method is - to gauge where you are as an actor, and then develop you further from there. To give a broad spectrum of training styles and genres, and to really push you to your potential. I can help workshop monologues for auditions or performances, as well as scenes.
My teaching method is making sure children have fun while simultaneously gaining some insight into what they are being taught. Children's mind are malleable so giving the teaching practices some variety ensures to fully grab their attention and keep it for an extended length of time.

My teaching methodology is very much hands on with my students especially Drama, I always work by a code of conduct within my lessons, by quickly getting a rapport with my students, then breaking the ice by demonstrating a few games or activities where the students get involved and it becomes fun not boring..I allow for a lot of student participation and small group activities...
I I believe that theater arts is an expression of our creativity of our own minds and hearts and it is the very root of our ability to learn and to become whatever may be. To me, theater is the process of new combinations for new things, new forms of expression, new inventions and new situations.
My teaching method is student focused and supports any current study requirements. I will work together with the student to support/tutor any assessments with which they need assistance. I prefer to use the teacher in role strategy where the teacher is able to directly participate in the dramatic process and influence it from the inside.
When I teach and/or tutor any subject the first thing I find out is what the student/students actually know and can already do. The next step is to focus on understanding the questions they are required to answer. Then we build on prior knowledge, explore the topic and follow a plan to complete the required tasks/assignments.
Will go over scene work, and how to analyse a script. Can be flexible on lesson structure. So either a new script every lesson or perfecting one. Will also part knowledge regarding voice warm ups and techniques to get into character. Will also go over audition techniques and lessons.
Mostly I try to suit the lesson to the student, so if you need help with line work or a monologue or creative inspiration or even the written aspect of drama, I can suit a lesson to your requirements.
Humour mixed with practice and theory is my method. It prevents soap opera acting while using irony and imagination to colour the subtext. Research, observation and especially in film work, continuity brings more depth into the character and it is also beneficial in the real world (what ever that is).
Engaging and encouraging approach to teaching, taking into consideration the individual’s needs and abilities. Mainly help with assessment, but can assist with practical acting tips as well.
My strength is is the practical side of drama and script analysis. I can assist in monologue development, line memorising, understanding Shakespeare’s or any other script, and performance development techniques. I am also happy to cover anything gone over in class or general drama practice.
My teaching methods is to be more practical and more repitive with the study load. Finding to teach the same content in unique and different ways allows students to really get a grasp of the content.
through drama, to learn to perform and create a piece, working through the process, while also making learning fun, drama games are common in drama classes, these games improve improvisation skills, performance skills, blocking skills etc.

PARISIAN STAGE DIRECTOR. With a management experience of many actors with diverses backgrounds, I usually adapt courses, advice and work with the personality and the needs of the participants. It is extremely important to me that the sessions are based on trust, in a relaxing, healthy environment, away from stress, and away from fear of habitual judgment engaged in public or on a set.
I base my teaching upon getting to the core of what makes you, authentically YOU. When you get real with yourself, and start to bring YOU to your work, magic happens. Forget becoming a character, forget crazy outdated acting "techniques" like sense memory, substitutions, and forget hours of rehearsal and FORGET overthinking.
Most of all, I am a teacher, and have a good critical eye, both of which enable to 'see' the person, and move them towards their desired goal. I have diverse training and experience, and work primary through posture, voice, and internalised visualisation techniques.
