My teaching lessons are a mix of practical ability, theoretical knowledge and aural skills to allow students to quickly learn how to play tunes, then understand the theory behind songs and finally equip them to be able to create their own original music.
I'm very easygoing, fun and passionate about music. I get along with everyone very easily. Learning with me will be like going on a carnival, full of fun and games. I'm very dedicated towards my students. I'll always be ready to help my students in any way.
My name is Brad Dickson. Married and living in Dundas for several years. I consider myself a motivated and capable teacher in areas ranging from Music Theory to Aural skills, Contemporary Acoustic and Electric guitar, Bass guitar. Check out my website (concealed information) Much experience preparing students to play in a school band and making lessons fun for kids.
I base my classes off of solid foundation and nailing the simple things in order to make the more difficult parts of learning guitar much more intuitive and simple. Lessons can be guided by the student's interests or I can help a student figure out what is best for their improvement (this is especially helpful for beginners).
I gained my strong foundation in the areas of Music Theory and Harmony, Musical Composition, vocal pop and knowledge and understanding in popular and jazz music. My areas of expertise are playing guitar and teaching Baroque, Classical, Spanish, Flamenco, Persian, Mediterranean and South American music.
My teaching methodology is based on engaging students using basic facilitating skills that help students stay engaged from staff to finish. I use a range of teaching materials that help students really understand concepts, but also deliver this in a fun, engaging way.
You'll literally learn to look at music and cultivate it in you. You'll become a strong instrumentalist. Things you'll learn:- 1. Scales: Pentatonic/Blues/Harmonic Minor/Chords; Arpeggios, Tapping, Sweep Picking etc. 2. Music appreciation: Rock/Classical 3. I'll give you violin lessons too but guitar will be the main focus.
+ Repertoire of songs according to the musical taste of the student + Mix of practice and theory + Berklee Material + The objective is to learn by having fun
First of all I always find out what kind of music is my student actualy interested in so then I can focus their lessons on that particular style whatever it might be. Some students just want to know chords and strumming patterns. Some of them are interested in finger-picking and some of them might want to learn the solo guitar. You name it I teach it.
I teach according to each student's needs and learning style. I believe that music and the guitar can be taught holistically and measurably, with practical methods and simple guidelines. Every student has the ability to be successful at music.
I'm a huge proponent of delimiting the playing potential of others. I can use my basic understanding of certain scales and intervals to allow others to move away from 'boxes', and use the entirety of the fretboard for creative potential.
My teaching method is focused on the interests of each people, so, if you want to sing and play, play rock, classical music, jazz or experimental music, I can apply the correct method for your training. I'm only the tutor, you put the rhythm of the classes.
I teach in a very simplistic way where my student understands every single step am teaching them. I also provide my very own experience and advice which might make the student feel more connected. I provide resources on what I teach so student and remember what I taught after we are done with the lesson.
My method of teaching is to help my students understand more about music and how the instrument can really be the best addition to any band setting such as wedding gigs, acoustic pub/bar gigs or even live music events. It isn't hard to learn how to play as long as there is passion, I can guide you towards the right path.
I love Rock and Roll so anyone who wants to learn the old ways to learn guitar should contact. My structure is based on the student, i will keep on a single lesson until and unless you are able to do it and keep on building day after day.
My method of teaching is the same way I was taught. I start off by getting the student comfortable with a guitar and learning the basics. Once they are capable I encourage learning what you want to learn. I'll never force lessons onto anyone that finds it boring or can't handle them. To get better at guitar you have to practice daily outside of lessons.
I specialise in you, it's all about what you want to get out of the instrument. I teach theory and traditional approach to the instrument, but I like to pepper up the dull stuff with history and fun stories about the Bass Guitar and its many eccentric players.
I love to learning skill and theory by listening to songs.
I cater my curriculum to the individual. Which ever style you prefer to learn I can create a suitable method of approach that would be both efficient and effective. This approach is a tried and tested method that has been very successful.
I like to give the student to capacity to understand how the instrument works, and especially how music works, once they have the capacity to understand, once they grow enough, they will be able to keep on learning by themselves. At the end of the day, you always learn more out of your own conclusions based on experimentation than from what others tell you.
I can teach beginner guitar lessons through to lessons and tutoring for HSC students (in both performance and theory areas). I'm patient, easy to understand and want the best for all music students. I am proficient in reading sheet music, performing, and writing about music - which is a major component of the HSC music course.
My teaching is based upon gaining an understanding of what the student wants to get out of learning the guitar and move forward with a fun and structured approach to achieve that goal, whether that be to learn songs, follow a formal grading route, develop technique or learn new skills - beginner to advanced.
Each child learns differently. My aim is too create and enjoyable, memorable experience that the student leaves wanting to practice and progress.
Unlike most tutors I have interacted with, my key approach to tutoring any student is to make sure that they are having fun. Progress and improvement is always a given key objective, but sometime the fun in just learning and playing an instrument can be lost.
I believe each individual person has a different learning style, so my approach is to meet you where you're at. My lessons will teach you how to get the best sound from your instrument and improve your technical ability.
