My teaching method is strengths based. I think tutoring is often needed when students haven't had someone to individually support them. Often the way that schools teach does not make sense to every student and they simply need the concept explained in a way that they understand. I love tryi ng to find how my students can get interested in a subject and see how it can be made easier for them.

Basically, it depends on the student's ability. I will adjust my teaching methods based on different students. For more capable students, I will give them extra exercise as a challenging task for them. For weaker students, I will help them to catch up with the school progress first.
Before I take on a student, I familiarise myself with the content the student is needing help with so I am fully prepared. Once I know what grade the student is in, I look into the current syllabus and curriculum material so I know how much I should cover, but only when the student is ready.
Lessons will depend on the curriculum area which tutoring is needed. Most lessons will focus on developing skills that are outlined by the relevant curriculum authority. I assist students in finding a way that works for them, whether they need help wit th reading, spelling, writing or mathematics.
Assess student prior knowledge and learning style - are their strengths in visual or auditory? Ask student questions so they discover learning themselves, rather than giving answers to their questions.

I'm Manda, a trained primary school teacher, with many years of experience in both early childhood teaching and primary tutoring.
My teaching method is to create a base/ foundation. I found that some of my high school teachers didn't understand this and many students lost track because of it. it is essential the student understand the basics in order to fully understand the content. I like to show examples and I would set exercises that would help them understand and learn the content more thoroughly.
I prefer to teach in a 'blended' classroom setting. Students should do some pre-class work on the topic being taught before coming in. During class, I will clarify any doubts and answer questions about the topic content. Students will then be asked to apply their knowledge on the topic. My teaching philosophy is that students learn best by applying.
