My lessons are aimed towards High School kids, and University students. I like to gauge my students before I plan a strict lesson. I believe every student learns differently and I am passionate about creating a lesson which is perfect for my student. I aim to create a safe, fun, and compassionate work environment that aids students in reaching their full potential.
Firstly I would help the students establish some goals, based on things they want to improve on in the upcoming topic, by targeting their weaknesses. Setting some objectives for the lesson so that the student knows what to expect and can feel fulfilled after completing the tasks.
I teach using a hands on, inquiry method to get students thinking about the 'why' behind their studies. I also use regular movement breaks as studies have shown this technique to be effective, particularly when working with younger children. I help students to gain the confidence they need to achieve success in their examinations and in regular classroom settings.
I'm a very upbeat tutor who believes that learning is best done interactively, such as through role performances, discussions and reflections (with yourself and the environment that shapes our understanding). As someone who has done literature, I found that learning Literature through high school alone can be quite intimidating because the method of teaching is very one sided.
I teach verbally and critically, making students think about why things are the way they are. I implement some practice of skills learnt during lesson time, and occasionally assign homework so that students can practice their skills. Through the constant reviewing of work and the practice of new techniques, I believe that the student will flourish.
I can guarantee that my lessons will cater to your ability in addition to being engaging. I value reflective practice, am determined to provide the most suitable methodology to your needs and approach every lesson with clear, structured activities.
My teaching method revolves mainly around what the student is struggling with and what can be improved upon. I would structure classes around building upon practice exams or actual exams undertaken by the student and finding out what can be improved upon, largely looking at sentence structure and the use of language.
My lessons benefit students actively looking to improve themselves in their given subject field, and with a passion and genuine interest in the subject. Private sessions offer the best experience as it means I'll have more time to interact with the student one on one. Workload will vary depending on the student.
My teaching method is based around breaking things down, whether it's deconstructing texts to find their themes and the literary devices that are used to show these themes, or breaking down a huge topic into key ideas that can become topic sentences in an essay.
I studied Primary School Teaching at QUT where the main philosophy used was constructivism and scaffolding. I ask the parents where their child is having problems and what their marks have been like and aim to improve their marks, build on their existing knowledge and improve their results. I also try to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible.
I have a deep passion for making real differences in the lives of my students and their learning journey through laser-focused instruction, my watchful eye and customised expertise to benefit students directly and witness their sparks of comprehension; equipping them with critical study skills to become independent lovers of learning.
I believe in a teaching approach which is highly integrative of the student's thoughts and ideas. At the end of the day, it is the student who must understand and apply what is being taught, so my methodology focuses on teaching students how to THINK like a top english student.
I believe that students learn best when they are enjoying the subject. Therefore, I strive to implement a student-based approach to my teaching by tailoring my method of information delivery or teaching strategy to better suit the student's needs and interests. Hence, I am willing to utilize a variety of mediums and creative activities to connect with the student in terms that they can understand.
I have experience with both University and School institutions. I love teaching and seeing my students achieve! I like to try and relate to my students, everyone is different and has their own strengths and weaknesses.
I am to stem my lessons from what the teachers have students working on, or areas that a particular student needs a bit of added help. I am happy to assist in research, writing essays or other assignments, and editing essays (for English and History specifically, but I may also be able to assist in other subjects).
My teaching method is based on my general knowledge i have on subjects such as social sciences, geography, maths and writing. If i am not confident about a particularly topic, I will make sure I acquire the necessary knowledge about that topic either through the internet or state library then apply this knowledge to my student.
I am a firm believer that students each have their own learning style and that the role of a tutor is to develop personalised strategies to ensure they maximise their learning potential.
' Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel'. - Socrates. To my mind, education and the pursuit of knowledge is the means by which an individual can attain genuine autonomy, liberating them to determine the shape of their own destiny. With this in mind, in teaching students, I aim to enlighten and inspire, rather than enforce instruction.
My mantra is: make every topic relevant to the student's life and interest. The reason I love language class is that you can customise any learning experience to make it relevant to your own interests. For example, if in my academic English class we were learning about referencing, I could ask a student to bring their favourite book or newspaper.
My teaching methodology is student-directed. I provide input and support as needed, but structure the lesson around each student's particular point of need. I have extensive experience working with students who need assistance with a subject of difficulty, particularly English.
I like to ask students about their strengths and weaknesses. It is great to help students improve on their confidence but also really focus deeply on the areas where they need improvement. some common teaching strategies I use are modelling, questioning, direction and collaboration.
My teaching method involves initially observing the students abilities under exam conditions, in order to really pick up on where specifically they need improvement. Subsequently, I begin working on these areas, while also teaching the student how to further highlight their strengths. I always ensure that the student is comfortable with the basic structure before moving onto the fine details.
I would like to get to know my student first because that will help me to prepare my lessons.e.g. whether my student can work for a full hour then take a break or whether my student needs a break every 30 minutes. To begin, I would usually start with asking the student if he/she have any homework or assignments that may be due soon so we can work through it.
My lessons are really simple: Reading texts, comprehending them, then answering questions and writing about them. Nice and basic lessons to build the most important skills of English, literature, reading and writing. I also build confidence and self-esteem in my students.
I am a very patient teacher who can work with a range of ages (from primary to high school). I'm aware every child learns differently so i will often focus on how to best teach a child based on how they learn.
I base my lessons around the course outline that students bring to me, focussing on a new key aspect every lesson. Depending on the content involved with each concept, the amount of time I will spend explaining and teaching will slightly vary.
I offer the first lesson for free so that I can efficiently grasp an understanding of the areas the student wishes to improve in. I then work by the NSW board of studies study outline to prepare students for their upcoming exams.
My classes are fun I'm straight to the point when it comes to texts and essay writing, there is no time to waste I have tips about what examiners look for English can be as simple as following steps I can teach you how to study!
I am happy to change my method based upon the student's individual needs and areas of focus. For example, I will often assist with reading and provide comprehension questions for younger students, whereas VCE students may wish to focus on essay writing techniques and exam revision.
My strategy will always be different for every student and we will figure out what works in our first meeting. My goal, though, is always to make the subject "click" and to think about life after & around school. It is so important to exercise, eat well, get enough sleep, take ownership of technology & social media.
