My teaching methods are working with the client. This means being flexible and accomodating to each individuals interests and personal circumstances. There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to yoga so by using a yoga therapy approach, I can help support the clients needs.
Rebecca Attard is a dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher whom has been living in Bali for over four years. After Rebecca found yoga and began to experience the countless benefits in her own life, she left behind the corporate world to pursue her passion of learning and teaching the ageless traditions of the authentic practice. Rebecca studied the ancient art of yoga, exploring the full teachings offered as an entire way of living and realised yoga to be the gateway to self-fulfilment. Aligned with her dance background, professional experience and life long goal of wanting to be of service to others, she chose to dedicate her career to sharing her findings of the practice incorporating the technique into every day living in the real world. She has spent the last year expanding her interpretation of the yoga concept and how this combined with modern practices can be used to further enhance her students overall experience.
Rebecca Attard is a loyal and very disciplined Mysore Ashtanga yoga practitioner. She has had a committed 6 day practice with her teachers in Bali, level 1 and 2 authorised Ashtanga teachers with the Sri. K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. She has been extremely fortunate to be able to train directly with some of Pattabhis Jois and Sharath’s most well recognised certified students including, Eileen Hall at Yoga Moves and Mark Robberds. She believes strongly in the discipline of the devotional practice. She actively honours and respects the lineage of the Ashtanga practice in her every day life and the importance of parampara in her studies and teachings. She is continually learning and growing in her daily practice through ongoing training with her teachers which is imperative to her ability to then offer the same to her own students. She makes annual trips to Mysore India to study at the official institute with the living descendants of the traditional practice.
Rebecca has completed an intensive long term ashtanga assistant teacher training program over a number of years with her authorised teachers which has been imperative in Rebecca’s yoga journey deepening her practice on all levels. Rebecca has spent the most recent years committing to developing her practice in the primary and secondary series of the Ashtanga Yoga sequence and learning through hands on experience the correct adjustments and ways to teach the practice as taught by the traditional lineage. She has professional experience in teaching Mysore classes, led Ashtanga classes modified for beginners through to experienced practitioners and can also teach the entire Primary series in the traditional sanskrit count and vinyasa.
She continues to spend much time studying yoga including postures, adjustments, philosophy, Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, the 8 Limb Path, chanting, pranayama and meditation etc. The combined growing knowledge is a very important part of Rebecca’s teachings as she is able to pass on her own current experience in the practice.
Rebecca was invited to substitute the Mysore and led Ashtanga classes at Serenity Eco Guesthouse and her teachers Sara Stangertz & Fernando Pacheco shala in Canggu. She has also taught at Yoga 108 Studio, Bliss Sanctuary in Seminyak and many private classes. She is a certified yoga instructor completing her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Rhadika Yoga in Ubud, Bali.
Rebecca has experience working one-on-one with clients whom have physical disabilities or limitations in the body. She is able to work with the anatomy of the body through designing sequences and exercises specifically for the client too help develop and restore the clients strength, flexibility and mobility. She has seen miraculous results through applying yoga function to therapy of the body, mind and spirit.
Rebecca also values the gift of her skills and training. To honour this she works towards offering her teachings too others whom yoga is unattainable due to circumstances. She volunteered at the Jodie Shea Orphanage in Bali, teaching the local children yoga at the facility as well as teaching yoga at a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. The program which she created and is implemented into the facilities combine meditation, asana and pranayama to educate regarding the fundamental basics of yoga.
In Rebecca’s own personal time, she has volunteered on multiple occasions in the local Kerobokan prison. One of her passion projects for the future is to be able to take yoga, mindfulness and meditation into institutions eg prisons, rehabilitation facilities, orphanages, youth centres, to be able to offer the transformational skills of the practice and the restorative therapy of yoga.
Rebecca Attard is highly experienced in the style of Ashtanga yoga as per the traditional lineage of the Phattabis Jois institute in Mysore. She is also however experienced in teaching Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. Through her teaching of the practice she can tailor the class for any level of experience. Her classes can vary from a beginner flow to an advanced series. Alternatively she enjoys working with students on specified areas of the practice which the student would like to build their foundations. The class can be personalised for any individual or group dynamic.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Full payment is required if cancellation occurs within 24 hour timeframe.
- 200 hour yoga certified in Vinyasa and Yin
- 5 year long term extensive training with an Authorised level 1 and an Authorised level 2 teacher as per the traditional lineage of Ashtanga yoga in the KPJAYI method.
- 2 visits to Mysore India to train with Sharath Jois and Saraswati Jois, both of the direct lineage of Pattabhi Jois (the founder of the Ashtanga yoga method).
- Trained with world wide recognised certified Ashtanga teachers, Mark Robberds and Eileen Hall.
- Studied Transcedental Meditation and the Yoga sutras (chanting) with Dr Jayashree and Sr Narasimhan.
- Currently studying a Bachelor Degree of Psychology.
- Worked as a yoga teacher but also in events, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and marketing/ business development for a sustainable local market.
